Do you believe there will be additional U.S. shows in 2023?

evenflow82evenflow82 Posts: 3,891
Looking like I will be unable to see any of the shows and frankly need something to hope for. :-)

What is your or the purveying thought on whether the current U.S. shows are the first of many parts of the Gigaton tour or if this is it for U.S. shows.

I haven't been on the board for a while so I may have missed some hints from the band or board users. Thanks for any info and your feedback.

Wouldn't be surprised about Ohana in late September announcement and potentially an Austin City Limits performance in October. They've played ACL twice already, and Stone has already mentioned Painted Shield will be playing Ohana. Perhaps they're waiting on the festivals to reveal their lineups before PJ mentions future dates. The fact that Seattle hasn't been listed is a big flag for me that there are more dates to come for 2022.

Very much so. Depending on Covid, I could see Australia and/or South America in early 2023, but I think the US will get a good amount of shows. They are only playing 8 shows in the North America this year in places that aren't in Canada or California. There is a lot of ground to cover, and I think they will be doing that next year.

    ACL and Ohana could overlap.

I have mixed feelings on them doing Ohana again.  The vibe last year was miles different than it was in 2019.

This where I'm at with it. They'll fulfill these NA legs in support of Gigaton and will do more NA dates in '23 with a new album in tow.

    No.

Not a definite no, but I'm not counting on it. Eddie won't want to schedule shows and then the Cubs get hot and are in the playoff mix in September. The playoffs are expanding this year, are they not? This seems more reason not to schedule shows.

It seems very rare that they announce additional shows once a tour gets announced. Newark in 2010 and Third Man Records in 2016 seem to be the rare exceptions.

Could there be shows added? Of course. It seems highly likely they'll do the Apollo on 9/10/2022. Other than that, I doubt it.

This seems more likely than additional dates in 2022. I wouldn't be surprised if they spent much of 2021 writing. We know Eddie did. They could hit the recording studio in November with something coming out in 2023, right?

What the hell else would they have done in 2020 and 2021? The creative mind wants to stay active even when the body isn't.

We already know it won't be as long between albums as it was between Lightning Bolt and Gigaton.

I wouldn't be entirely surprised to see 2023 be similar to 2013 with an album, a huge US tour and then a bunch of other countries in 2024.

after a little research on previous tours I think stadiums are probably not happening. Unless, they announce in the coming days/weeks along with Ohana. If not playing Ohana, my guess is no summer shows. In the past they announce stadiums with a tour, just not the dates. They follow a few weeks later. But, since this was technically a "rescheduled tour announcement", maybe its a different situation. But then again, they did add a couple new shows in this announcement. So, who knows!!

That would make it 10 years since PJ has come to Vancouver, which seems insane, so I certainly hope so.

Depends how much they reference the original last leg of the 2020 tour, which would have included dates in Ohio, St. Paul, Madison, Milwaukee, and Pittsburgh.  Since part of the motivation for choosing those regions was to influence the 2020 elections, it is possible their mindset has changed.  But I am holding out hope they follow through on those initial plans for a fall N.A. tour.

Pretty sure the Cubs won't be a factor anytime soon.

Summer 2023 album release followed by a tour for it ;)
If we don't see a 2022 Boston/Seattle/Chicago ballpark announcement by May, I can see that being a very likely outcome.

You gotta think they’d hit the Pacific Northwest at some point with this album. If not Vancouver (fingers crossed) then a show or two in Seattle.
  • ZodZod Posts: 10,521
Not sure.  They did announce a few new shows amongst the old ones, so if they had more new shows to announce I would of hoped they'd done it with those shows.  There could be a few festival dates to be announced, but I'm not sure there's another leg or extension of a tour?

I'm guessing at this point they'll probably be happy accomplishing the completion of the postponed covid gigs.

If covid stays on the wane, there's no reason they can't do a tour in 2023?  Maybe next year would be the PNW and other parts of the US/Can that weren't on this tour?
  • apirk72apirk72 Posts: 501
Probably not and I really don’t see them playing many more cities next year as they did this year.  The multiple nights in stadiums probably spoiled them and I don’t see why they’d want to go back to a typical arena/shed tour when they can play multiple nights in one place and sell the same number of tickets.

I could see them adding a second Vegas show.  Possibly due to Stone racking up a large gambling debt .
