John Oliver’s main story tonight was about the corruption in the ticket business. Pearl Jam got several good mentions. He mentioned they took on TM in their prime.  He also mentioned (and complimented) the 2020 tour was set to have transfers at face value with no up charges.
Bring on the announcement this week…hopefully tomorrow!

Yup. Mentioned them when they battled with ticketbastard in the 90s and how, “if pearl jam cant defeat ticketmaster in the 90s, no one can.”
Then again on how to mitigate scalping with f2f.

Just nice to see that this band is really for the fans and the episode did a great job of explaining the whole expensive ticket business.

yah, I have no idea how they haven't had anti-trust hearings again.   Live Nation and TM merged.  They've have exclusive contracts with most of the larger venues in North America.  No competitor can ticket for those shows.  So to me that's a monopoly.  You can't tour without them, you can use other ticketing agencies etc...

That being said, if there were other ticket agencies wouldn't they be pulling the same stuff with reselling, platinum tickets etc.    Really, it would be about trying to make the fees more competitive, but the other stuff benefits them, the promoter (often them), and the band.

At least he touched on the point, that bands often sell tickets below the market value, and that gap creates the whole mess :(
