oh man is this what I have to look forward to? First pedal kits, then amp kits...when are you going to build your own guitar, or better yet, design your own circuit boards?

    Awesome though, and good luck!

  • Nice! I'm always more into heads then combo's. that way you can get a few different cabinet set ups and have much more tonal options.

in a word, yes. it's very addictive. i've already built one amp and modified my valve jr a bit.

it actually started with simple guitar wiring modifications, then pedal modifications, then building pedals from kits, then amps.

i did assemble my own guitar a few years ago with my own wiring scheme etc. but i could never make one from scratch. i have no woodworking skills.

and yeah, i'm thinking going with the head cabinet. i can use my epi cab initially and then eventually find something else. won't have to worry about the constant mechanical vibration noise that my deluxe reverb and 5E3 throw out too.

well, i changed my mind last minute and went with the weber kit in a traditional 18watt combo cabinet. i know i'll be doing some substitutions and i skipped their tubes entirely but i decided i really wanted the full size cabinet and love the marshall aesthetics.

so i went with the treble/middle/bass option in lieu of the tremolo (no master volume) and ordered the cabinet in ivory with checker grillcloth with a weber silver bell alnico.

just like this but ivory https://taweber.powweb.com/store/cabs/6m18_lred_chk.jpg
