I took my daughter to the Newark show, one thing that my 17 year old baby girl and I love to do together. It's been a pretty rough trip the past few years and the two hour car ride down and back with her and the boys blowing the roof off the place was a well needed bright spot. But the part that hit me hardest, right to my core, was the story that Ed told about his friend Jeremy. I know we don't know each other but I want to thank you. Thank you Ed, for being on the other end.

    He told the story right before he played Brother the Cloud. His friend Jeremy was the father of one of the kids that was killed in the Sandy Hook shooting. Ed had become close to him over the years. He was planning to come out and visit Seattle. However, a few weeks before he was supposed to come, Ed found out that he had committed suicide. Ed mentioned that the song was not written about him, but he would be thinking of him when he sang it.

    Heartbreaking story on so many levels.  I was at Newark on Sunday and also at Hartford '13 where he  mentioned meeting some parents from Sandy Hook.  On the '13 Hartford boot you can hear him dedicate Come Back to  Avielle (Jeremy's daughter) who he also mentioned in Newark.
