POLL - The WEAKEST LINK of Opening Track/Debut Album - FINAL

MedozKMedozK Tennessee Posts: 9,210
Hope everyone is having fun with these WEAKEST LINK polls. With the new poll we will decide the best "Opening Track on a Debut Album". For these artist this was usually the VERY first track anyone heard of them. So with this one I came up with 10 for us to debate about and choose from.

Disclaimer: I know there are thousands of great debut albums with with great opening tracks, I could not include them all and I want to be the first to say I am sorry for not including your favorite. These are just the ones that came to my mind.

Remember you are going to pick the song that you think is the "Weakest Link" after 2 days I remove the song with the most votes. We will then crown our CHAMPION.

Thanks again for playing.

I prefer Runnin' with the Devil, but GnFnR deserves the win.

Running with the Devil is good but it sounds like the slightly more boring version of Welcome to the Jungle

This one is tough. They both have very similar intros—killer riffs (slight edge goes to EVH), hitch-pitched vocals (Axl by a long shot)—both of which really announce the bands and paint our first picture of them. Obvious similarities in lyrical content as well.

There’s an element of danger to “Welcome to the Jungle,” whereas “Runnin’ with the Devil” is more unbridled hedonism.

Both monumentally helped to reshape the hard rock genre.

    Still thinking….

Man Slash is one hell of a blues guitarist though.  They are just different.  Both are great, one changed the face of music and the other is a really, really great guitarist.
  • Van Halen: “Runnin’ with the Devil”
This was tough.  Reason for voting out VH was because Jungle is a smash mouth song.  Sports teams still use it when you enter their arenas.  Devil doesn't get that kind of love.

EVH is an unreal guitar player but this band just didn't make that many super-great songs. (ducks)
