Hope everyone is having fun with these WEAKEST LINK polls. With the new poll we will decide the best "Opening Track on a Debut Album". For these artist this was usually the VERY first track anyone heard of them. So with this one I came up with 10 for us to debate about and choose from.

Disclaimer: I know there are thousands of great debut albums with with great opening tracks, I could not include them all and I want to be the first to say I am sorry for not including your favorite. These are just the ones that came to my mind.

Remember you are going to pick the song that you think is the "Weakest Link" after 2 days I remove the 2 songs with the most votes. We will then move on to Round 4.

Thanks again for playing.

Van Morrison: “Brown Eyed Girl” (Blowin’ Your Mind!)
To me, the first track should set the tone for the album, and Brown Eyed Girl just isn't a track that makes me want to listen to the rest of the album. It will be a lot harder to choose after this round, though. Everything else is a great opener.
  • Ramones: “Blitzkrieg Bop” (Ramones)
I’m sure Brown Eyed Girl will be eliminated this round.

There are so many better songs by him and by other artists in that era of music. But we're talking album openers here so...

    You're not alone!
After I get done beating on the brat, I'm gonna go down to the basement, sniff some Carbona (not glue), and rock out to "Blitzkrieg Bop"!

I mean this song is sticking around here the same way it does on radio playlists.  Your right there are better options from that era yet brown eyed girl is always in constant rotation at the expense of a lot of other stuff

There isn’t much hip hop I like. A small town kid in northern Canada doesn’t identify with the “streets”.  Most of it was nonsense to me.
But some of it did have an impact, NWA was one, mostly because this album ROCKED.

It's odd that some find it so unlikable.  Must be a generational thing (both ways, of course.)

That was one of the cool things about the "Rate the Song Above You" thread, you could see which songs/bands you had in common with people from different parts of your own country(like Pap/23scidoo and me/cutz)...and people from other parts of the world. It was always fun to see which ones the others disliked.

Sounds like a cool thread.  I will have to search for it.

Let me rephrase that, it was fun to find out which ones the others disliked, when it wasn't one of your personal favorites.

You are so much forgiving than I am, lol.  I too often think, "How the hell can they not like this?!"
But I do get it- we all have different ways of hearing things.
