Yeah, I get that if I'm mentioned in a post that someone quotes as well. I'll get an alert that the original poster mentioned me and then alerts that everyone else who quoted the post mentioned me until the post dies.

it's an automatic reference to being in "hard mode", which means if you have a letter in yellow, you have to use that letter in every subsequent guess.

I'll fully admit...I cheated today. I had the first 3 letters and was STILL stumped. I'm starting to really realize how stress affects cognition. I was stressed the fuck out last night in bed, couldn't sleep, and could NOT figure it out. I just started to google the first three letters and couldn't believe my eyes with how seemingly obvious it should have been given what I had.
