Can't update forum profile

If I attempt to update my profile, I get the following error:

Usernames must be 3-20 characters and consist of letters, numbers, and underscores.

This is despite the fact that the username field is disabled, and I'm only trying to update something else. I'm guessing spaces in names were grandfathered in when the forum migrated? Can I have my username changed so this isn't a problem in the future?
