    Thin Air

It's not in my past to presume...
Love can keep on moving,... in both directions...
How to be happy and true...
Is the quest we're taking on together...

Taking on,.. on, on, on, on...
Taking on,... on, on, on, on...

There's a light,... when my baby's in my arms...

hello, welcome, What about I'd rather be with an animal....

Or on a serious note, You Are

This broken wheel is coming undone
    And the roads exploding
    But you're keeping me strong
    Rolling along with you,...

    Love is a tower
    And you're the key
    Leading me higher
    When you let me in

    Keeping us close,... so close
    On down the line

Sometimes I burn like a dot on the sun
    With no one knowing
    But you're keeping me strong
    Rolling along with you

    You are a tower of
    Strength to me
    The darkening hour
    Sees light again

Ooh wah, ooh wah, ooh wah, ooh wah, ooh wah
Ooh wah, ooh wah, you are... you are

    Love is a tower
    Of strength to me
    I am the shoreline
    But you're the sea

    You are.

    What about Soldier Of Love?

Oh lay down your arms and love me peacefully. yea.
Use your arms for squezing and pleasing the one that loves you so.
Oh there aint no reason for you to declare war on the one who loves you so.
So forget the other boys because my love is real.
    Come off your battlefield.
Lay down your arms and surrender to me.
Yea lay down your arms and love me peacefully. yea.
Use your arms for squezing and please cuse thats the way it has to be.
The weapons youre using are hurting me bad.
But someday youre going to retreat.
Cause my love baby is the truest youve ever had.
A soldier of love thats hard to beat.
Lay down your arms and surrender to me.
Lay down your arms and love me peacefully. yea.
Use your arms to hold me tight. baby I dont wanna fight no more.
Oh baby, lay down your arms.
Please baby lay down your arms.
    roll them high...
    throw them again...

been married 7 years, so i didn't have the last few albums to pick from.

IMO, if you want it to be something kinda intimate, have the DJ stick around for one last song when most everyone is gone...and do something that moves you. we did release, not for the lyrics, but the tone of the song kinda helped us feel like we were finally done with everything and could be 'released' into the world brand new.

    corny, right?

    anyway...

I love Pearl Jam but I dont think theres a single song in their catalogue that is appropriate for a wedding.

But its up to you....good luck.
  • thin air is a good choice. . .our wedding song was "cant help falling in love" but the elvis version, didnt want a live song for that, if pj had a recorded version that would have been it
i have wished for so long, how i wish for you today

Glad to find out that you found the true meaning of Better Man. Definately not wedding material, haha.

You Are is an excellent choice. One of my favorites.

For a second choice, I would look at Around the Bend. Always thought it would make a nice slow dance song.
Oh he fills it up with the love of a girl...

"Thin air" is in a fact a good choice...but - although not a PJ-song - "Harvest moon" with Sleater Kinney from 2005 is soooo beautiful...well, I'm not into marriage (for myself), but I couldn't get that song out of my head the last week...it carried me through the day...so may you carry one another while dancing to this one :)

    Low light!

    'Voice goes by
Two birds is what they'll see
    Getting lost upon their way'

Beautiful song, after they played it at Wembley (this year) Eddie said "Jeff wrote this one for his lady, and she's here, so that's nice." So I'm guessing it's a positive love song, which isn't immediately apparent from the lyrics....I love it anyhow. Might be a bit too fast though...

I see 'getting lost upon their way' as becoming more and more lost in love as you grow old together.

    Congrats and welcome.

First off welcome to the board. Picture in a Frame is amazing, but I also like Blue Red and Grey which Ed covers and even more so "Til The Rivers All Run Dry" Don Wilson cover performed by EV and PT. Lyrics below

Blue Red And Grey By Pete Townshend

Some people seem so obsessed with the morning
Get up early just to watch the sun rise
Some people like it more when there's fire in the sky
Worship the sun when it's high
Some people go for those sultry evenings
Sipping cocktails in the blue, red and grey
But I like every minute of the day

I like every second, so long as you are on my mind
Every moment has its special charm
It's all right when you're around, rain or shine
I know a crowd who only live after midnight
Their faces always seem so pale
And then there's friends of mine who must have sunlight
They say a suntan never fails
I know a man who works the night shift
He's lucky to get a job and some pay
And I like every minute of the day

    I dig every second
I can laugh in the snow and rain
I get a buzz from being cold and wet
The pleasure seems to balance out the pain

And so you see that I'm completely crazy
I even shun the south of France
The people on the hill, they say I'm lazy
But when they sleep, I sing and dance
Some people have to have the sultry evenings
Cocktails in the blue, red and grey
But I like every minute of the day

I like every minute of the day

Till The Rivers All Run Dry By Don Williams:

Till the rivers all run dry
Till the sun falls from the sky
Till life on earth is through
    I'll be needing you
I know sometimes you may wonder
From little things I say and do
But there's no need for you to wonder
If I need you cause I'll need you
Till the rivers all run dry
Till the sun falls from the sky
Till life on earth is through
    I'll be needing you
Too many times I don't tell you
Too many things get in the way
And even though sometimes I hurt you
Still you show me in every way
Till the rivers all run dry
Till the sun falls from the sky
Till life on earth is through
    I'll be needing you
    "The leads are weak!"

"The leads are weak? Fuckin' leads are weak? You're Weak! I've Been in this business 15 years"

    "What's your name?"

    "FUCK YOU! THAT"S MY NAME!"
