I couldn't find a general Native American/ First Nations/ American Indian thread so am throwing this out here.
This time of year, most of us get inundated with letters asking for our end-of-the-year charitable contributions. We give to various organizations throughout the years as the previous years' contribution expires, so we don't go by these strictly end-of-the-year requests. However, this one new one showed up today it it caught my eye. It's a request from an organization called First Nations Development Institute and it looks really good. I researched them a bit and they seem very legit. They score quite high on Charity Navigator with 9 years consecutive rating of 4 stars (only 4% of the many organizations they score do that well) and 84% of all dollars donated to them go directly to the programs and communities that need their support. That is quite good!

So, yes, we will be sending them some money this years. Anyone here interested might want to check them out:
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.
