Anyone out there who would be so kind as to quote the lyrics for Yellow ledbetter....
I've listened to the song from time to time for like 15 years now, not really liking it in the beginning though.....it's just lately I've come to appreciate it to the full, but.......as english is not my native tounge, and it's not always that easy to hear what Mr Vedder actually sings, I have a hard time to make out the lyrics on this one, but I sense that there is an interesting story there.
So if anyone feels like explaining/interpretating it for me I'd be very happy : )

Except Sundays, that's Ed day.

The lyrics in the studio version are hard to determine as Ed mumbles, but here is a good interpretation:
Unsealed on a porch a letter sat.
Then you said, "I wanna leave it again."
Once I saw him on a beach of weathered sand. And on the sand I wanna leave it again. Yeah.
On a weekend I wanna wish it all away, yeah.
And they called and I said that "I want what I said" and then I call out again.
And the reason oughta' leave her calm, I know.
I said "I dont know I whether im the boxer or the bag."
Ah yeah, can you see them out on the porch? Yeah, but they don't wait.
I see them round the front way. Yeah.
And I know, and I know. I don't want to stay.
Make me cry...
I see... Ooh I don't know why there's something else.
I wanna drum it all away... [ ;-) ]
Oh, I said, "I don't, I don't know whe"ther I was the boxer or the bag."
Ah yeah, can you see them out on the porch? Yeah, but they don't wave.
But I see them round the front way. Yeah.
And I know, and I know. I don't wanna stay at all.
I don't wanna stay. Yeah.
I don't wanna stay. (x2)
I don't... Don't wanna, oh... Yeah. Ooh... Ohh...
besides all this, i do believe the song has a meaning and purpose. It seems to be about a man who has lost his brother (or someone close) in war. And the people out on the porch are the people coming to inform him that his brother has been killed in action.
Live performances often allude better to this meaning. For instance, singing live, Eddie has often changed "I don't know whether I was the boxer or the bag" to "My brother's coming home in a body bag"
Thanks for the input, really appreciate it.
If anyone else has another interpretation please share it with me.
Thanks again !

Definitely And it is one characteristic of the song that makes it special
I'm starting to realize that now, it is truly a beautiful song, and now I when I know a little more about it, it's even easier to appreciate it.
But, if someone has a different interpretation, please share it.....
