Which version of Even Flow?

The one off Ten, or the remix off Rearviewmirror? (Also featured on the video; the one that starts with a roar)

Personally i prefer the remix. What about you?

Definitely the remix. Or the one from Uniondale '03.
you couldn't swing if you were hangin' from a palm tree in a hurricane.
  • I love them both, but the remix with the "WHOA" to open it is the icing on the cake.

I started my cousin on PJ about a year ago and sometimes when he answers the phone or calls me, the first thing out of his mouth is "WHOA!"

What a phenomenal song. The '06 San Deigo boot with Matt Cameron's drum solo is dirty.
Oh he fills it up with the love of a girl...

Definitely the Music Video version, it's heavier and crunchier, but I think the album version is great too. I actually like the "reverb" it gives the song a very atmospheric sound.
  • i havnt seen the music video but i think i prefer the remix

All of the songs off of Ten sound better on Rearviewmirror. I mean, Alive, Once, and Black were all remixed for the album, the remix version of Even Flow is so much more raw, and Jeremy has some differences in it as well. Hell, even some of the other songs sound different!!!!

But to answer your question, the "Wah" version of Even Flow takes the cake.

  • the remix. However, my fave current version is from the Nov 10 Brisbane concert 2006 bootleg, takes me right back to the actual concert, and the guitar solo has to be heard to be believed!!!!!

And yes, it's possible not to have seen the music video version. I only acquired the Madison Square garden dvd at Xmas, despite PJ being my all time fave band so I hadn't seen it before then. I guess I am a lazy fan!!!!

There you will find the video. I can't believe you havn't seen it! It's pretty much just a mix up of footage from one show with Even Flow dubbed over...The band members change guitars and things half way through the video 'cus the best footage was mixed up.
  • The original on Ten.

I really like the MTV unplugged version, evenflow sounds really cool stripped down and acoustic...but when pearl jam played the aladdin in las vegas in 1993, i think that has to be my favorite version so far...ever since matt cameron came a long, they have kinda speeded the tempo of that song up (along with corduroy). matt cameron is the man though!!!

What everyone is calling the "remix" in this thread was actually a re-recorded version of the song. It was recorded in January 1992 along with State of Love and Trust and Breath.

The re-recorded version (which is also the one on the greatest hits) is the one that was used for the music video. The footage and the and the song were synced up as to make it look like the band were performing it live.
