Belated post from the 4th Round...
About Forrest Gump, I think Jenny gets a bum rap. We forget that she lived in an abusive household, and that had such a big impact on how she was able to love/be loved. I believe she loved Forrest the very best way she knew how and gave him the same advice she used--RUN, it was an unconventional love story.
He had love in his life because of Jenny, her advice saved his life at one point, and she was an integral part of his adventures whether or not she was actually present with him. She helped him be exceptional. I know she hurt him a lot, but she was hurting herself as well.
Forrest was her constant. She had love in her life, because of Forrest. He was an integral part of her adventures whether or not he was actually present with her.

I know some people won't agree with me, but I'm a sucker for unconventional love stories.

I so wanted it to come down to Big VS Castaway.  Philadelphia is a great movie, but the choice here was easy.

Would love to do this again with Robin Williams films!  I know, easy for me to say, a good deal of work to do it.  For that, MedozK ,  many thanks!

I hadn't seen Castaway in it's entirety until like 10 years ago or so. Everytime it was on tv I would always catch it when he's on the island. I had no idea how he got there.

But afterwards, hopefully.  And then if and when you do, I'll tell you while I like the flight scene as much as the island scenes.

How can his performance in Cast Away be better than Philidelphia?

By having subjective opinions I guess?! Personally I thought he was brilliant in Cast Away

I will admit, it's a tough call.  Both are such great movies, but it's like trying to comparing the Pavarotti/ von Karajan rendition of La bohèm to Rust Never Sleeps.  Both great, but totally different.
Without a doubt, Hanks is great in both films, but I had to go with Wilson over Banderas, giving Castaway the edge.
