I am Mine!

This song moves me! How about you and what does it mean to YOU? I am short on time. I will share tonight at work if I get time :)

Thanks!

The selfish, they're all standing in line
Faithing and hoping to buy themselves time
Me, I figure as each breath goes by
I only own my mind

The North is to South what the clock is to time
There's east and there's west and there's everywhere life
I know I was born and I know that I'll die
The in between is mine
I am mine

And the feeling, it gets left behind
All the innocence lost at one time
Significant, behind the eyes
There's no need to hide...
We're safe tonight

The ocean is full 'cause everyone's crying
The full moon is looking for friends at high tide
The sorrow grows bigger when the sorrow's denied
I only know my mind
I am mine

And the meaning, it gets left behind
All the innocents lost at one time
Significant, behind the eyes
There's no need to hide...
We're safe tonight

And the feelings that get left behind
All the innocents broken with lies
Significance, between the lines
(We may need to hide)

And the meanings that get left behind
All the innocents lost at one time
We're all different behind the eyes
There's no need to hide

The agony it arises in me is somehow relieving.

To know that no matter what happens, one can still be his own.
And yet the antagonizing effect never to have someone that would then be 'yours'... (at least in my case :p) it has on the hope it irradiates....

Never mind, life is ours, we're safe tonight !

actually, if you look at the official liner notes ... ed vacillates between all the "innocents" and all the "innocence" lost at one time.

Those two lines mean two different things. I love that about ed's writing.

    It's akin to Daughter -- "young girl ... violins(ence)."

I Am Mine is truly a great celebration of being yourself and getting on with life, both of which can be difficult at times. It was the first song I took an instant shining to on Riot Act and is still one of my favourites. :)

I am mine is one of my favorite songs of all time. When I first heard It I thought RA would be HUGE!! Still dont understand why it wasnt but there are endless threads about that stuff.

I love that song though, I play it all the time...in fact...gimme a sec im gonna play it...ok, got that outta my system for now. We have a guitar in our office.

I think that song is about accecpting yourself, accecpting the world around you, and finding power in yourself.
    Be excellent to each other

when I first heard the lyrics, I fell in love.

like already said, it's about being who you are, all through your life. :)

There's east and there's west and there's everywhere life
I know I was born and I know that I'll die

I agree with you on the 9/11 reference, I think it's an indirect response to trying to move on after something so horrific. I disagree with you on not listening to it, I always do because it has some kind of emotional connection with me.

"Indirect" response? I kind of think of this as PJ's "9-11" song. To me, it is their DIRECT response to 9-11.

fair enough, i say indirect because it doesn't specifically say the events that happened but i can certainly see the direct response point of view.
