  • I think its from Live On Two, but i love when Ed switches on State of Love and Trust "i'll do this one myself" to "I'll do this one with Mike's help"

And on one bootleg when he's doing Gimmie Some Truth, on one chorus he forgets the words and justs shouts out something like "yeay yeay yeay yeay yeay" its hilarious.

It was SO fitting for 116 degree weather.

I wish i heard that, i was stuck in the Ten Club line getting our tickets during the first three songs!

I love on Slight of Hand where he adds fuckin to "on a road he fuckin new by heart" I swear he adds fuckin in the best spots.

Or when he adds fuckin to "i know someday you'll have a beautiful life, i know you'll be a fuckin star in someone elses sky" damn that so good.

Normally I would agree that adding the f-bomb to songs adds to the intensity of the moment but for some reason to me it feels out of place in Black, and I don't really care for it on that particular song.

In 1998 in Mansfield, Massachusetts people were throwing quarters at the band for some reason. And Ed went on a long rant about stop throwing quarters. Some guy in the crowd was being an ass about it and during State of Love and Trust Ed goes...

"Help me from that guy over there"

    instead of

    "Help me from myself"

I like the lyric change on Long Road from the San Diego show last year. He forgets the lyrics but he makes up a good line.

    supposed to be

    And the wind keeps rollin
And the sky keeps turning grey
    And the sun is set
The sun will rise another day

    San Diego 06 Version:

    An The Sun Is Setting
The Sun Will Rise Another Day
And I Know You're With Me
I Know You're With Me Today
If You Give, You Begin To Live

    But You Might Die Trying

what is your favorite line from a song that Ed has improvised live?

I'm partial to the line from comatose, the studio version is "...if its illegal to be in love"

hartford this year he sings "...if its illegal for us to fuck"

anything that replaces a word with fuck :)

Either Love Boat Captain - Vancouver 05 or DTE Gorge 06 "2010 watch me fuck this line up again!"

LBC is just a series of mmmmm's and ahhhhs...for that second verse, or the stanza or bridge or whatever...Did NOT notice it at the show, though...

Of course, there's the "Green Disease" where he sings, "There's a band and they're called Creed" or something like that...at the end he spells "C-R-E-E-D", but I'm sure someone posted this already...

The ones I've read on here are highly entertaining! Ed's so real (as is the whole band, actually)...no shame in forgetting the lyrics...

ed screams ''president bush leave this world alone'' instead of ''teachers leave the kids alone..'' in athens 30-09-2006 in the end of 'daughter/the wall'..
    crowd went crazy..
    and during 'wishlist'
''i wish i was as fortunate as greeks..''
    great show..
''walk the bridges before you burn them down...''
and always remember ''it's no crime to escape!!!"

during daughter, instead of repeating "the shades go down" ed sings "the sun goes down" right as the sun dropped behind the hills across the river (and then does a little solar improv riff). coincidence? or brilliance? or a bit of serendipitous both!

Not my favorite, but a nice one to add:

In Berlin 2006 at the end of Black he sings an improv :

Time heals the wounds no one can see,
Time heals the wounds no one can see,
But my memories, my memories wont let me back,
My memories wont let me be...oooohh
We belong, we belong together, together, together.....
  • In Marseille while singing Whishlist he goes "I wish I was the president, I'd apologise to the French"....
"Come on people now, smile on your brother and everybody get together, try to love one another right now!!!!"
"You my friend, I will defend and if we change, well I love you anyway"
"I know I was born and I know that I'll die, the in between is mine, I AM MINE"

On the Showbox DVD, when he's singing Corduroy around the "i would rather run but I can't walk" part, he forgets the words and sings, "haven't sung this song in a long time."

I saw a clip of that and it made me buy the DVD.
