  • It's more of a ballad to his Mrs. and baby...but everyone has their own interpretations....however, this is a love song...

I read somewhere that it is about his relationship with his daughter. A lovesong for Olivia.

It also takes a political standpoint in the lyrics

"And War, Break the sky and tell me what it's for"

in evolution of a relationship with the sun and the ocean (nature) (god)..and the process of not wrecklessly destroying yourself..

in other words...back to the theme of the album..

escaping a life wasted and figuring shit out on your own.
  • this song is so beautiful!!! love the lyrics!

Its gonna be one of my lullabyes for my daughter, when she is born :)
There's the moon asking to stay
Long enough for the clouds to fly me away
  • I thought this song was about his girlfriend or daughter, but i read somewhere it's about johnny ramone ??
did'nt Eddie mention in an interview that most of the words on the album where written about Johnny Ramone, with come back being the most obvious example.

Maybe that's the daughter talking to the father...

I think this song is a conversation back and forth between the two, or almost a "one more lesson before I die" type of songs.

i think its about a lot of things... his girl, his daughter, war, all the things that mean the most to him. I think it mt be his best lyrics ever. Further back and forth a wave will break on me, today.

I know the lyrics say " I dont want to know your past"....

but I always hope (and therefore think it says) "I dont want to know you've passed...(or your passed)...but together share the dawn".....I like that lyric so much more....it says that a person is missing a loved one and is forcing themselves to pretend they are spending time with them one last time etc....

My two cents on the best song off of Avo. (some people Hate this song??????)
  • The first couple times I listened to the song I thought it was gorgeous. But the more I heard it the more I heard the lines...

    Nothing else
    Cause when we're dead
    We would've had it all

... and Ed says 'dead' so distinctly, so clearly, it kinda ruins the love song aspect of it. My buoyancy and loving feelings are dampened when I hear 'dead'. >.<
