Drivin' to See Hear Now

Hello Friends,

God Bless All on this 20th anniversary of 9/11. Hopefully some friends here can help me out. Ive been to Asbury Park, love it. I know parking is tight as it is, and will be even more limited with road closures around the stages etc. I am driving to the show from LI (I already know breaking through the city will be its own battle).

Any advice as far as roads to avoid to get to the show. Where to park? Should I park somewhere and then Uber to get to the show? Is there parking set up near the venue? I saw the map from Fridays 10 C update, but it seems parking isn't totally mentioned there or by Sea Hear Now website... I know they would prefer us bus, train or bike in. However, my wife and I payed for 2 day passes and are heading there for the late afternoon action and then PJ. Thats the best we can do.

Really appreciate any insight into the area from any experienced show goers or NJ peeps. THANK YOU!!

Last time i didnt go to show but was at ap during shn. I drove in around 4 pm and found a spot right there on the street. Likely got lucky.
If you have time, drive around festival and look for a spot for about 30 minutes. If that doesn't work drive along the coast (not inland over the train tracks, could be a little rough nieighborhoods) and park in another town/walk or whatever. I think it will be easyish to find parking if you are patient/ don't mind walking. Maybe drop your friend at show then you park. don't stress and be careful.
  • Thank you! Any particular roads/towns I should focus on? Thanks I advance.
  • you will be bettor off finding street parking in either Ocean Grove, Bradley Beach,  or even Avon.  All of which are South of Asbury,  but totally within walking distance up the boardwalk.
  • Thank you for the tip! Is it going to be mass gridlock around the area? Is there a time to get in before it gets too bad or is it just inevitable to be jammed everywhere.

I’m probably going meet my one buddy and park at a Walmart about 5 miles away and grab an Uber to and from the show.

You can get substantially closer if you park at Seaview Mall in Ocean Township.  It’s a straight shot from the mall right down Sunset Avenue to Convention Hall.

No problem!  Bit of local history… Springsteen actually lived on Sunset Avenue for a short time in the back of a surf board factory about 1000 feet from the where the mall is today.

  • Just a heads up about uber after the show…they can be $$. I got stuck at Merriweather and couldn’t get an Uber to our hotel. The prices were crazy. Ended up costing $90 for a 15 minute ride. May be different in Asbury Park with a lot more people and drivers around.

I'm thinking of riding my bike from the Mall.

Do you  know if that is  a safe area and a safe bike ride to convention hall?

Try to stay off route 66 and asbury ave (that gets a little rough in spots) and you'll be fine.

Easiest, fastest and safest way to the show if you’re going to park at the mall and uber or bike.  Sunset Avenue runs from the mall all the way way to the ocean where the concert will be.  There is also another huge shopping plaza on Sunset Avenue (at the intersection of Hwy 35) which would have plenty of parking and is slightly closer. Google Staples in Ocean Twp for directions.  😁

The neighborhoods directly west of Main Street near the train station are pretty rough.  My best advice is to stay east of Main Street if you can find a spot or head to a town north or south of Asbury Park if you plan to park and walk.

That’s fine… it’s east of Main Street, although it might be tough to find a spot there.   All metered spots (not actual meters - they have pay stations where you can use cash or a credit card to pay for parking by the hour).  Lots of great restaurants and bars along Lake Ave and a block over on Cookman Ave.

Thx for all the help! Looks like there is an app that can be used to pay for parking. If it's not a beach day hopefully that will help us find parking.

That is a good question: Will it be good to park at that Staples or is there any chance cars could be  towed?

In the shopping plaza where the Staples is located there is also a Wegmans supermarket which is open until midnight.  Maybe park in that section of the lot.

Kane is legit.  Go if you can.  For my out of staters, nj law states that no food can be served at a brewery.  They might have food trucks or you can usually get something delivered but don't expect a menu.

That sounds like a possibility for me, especially if I leave right after Pearl Jam(I have a ticket for the Late show at The Stone Pony, but not sure If I'll stay)

    Thanks AGAIN.
