Happy Lyrics

Does Pearl Jam even have any?! hah kinda sad when you look at your music realizing every last one of your songs is depressing, even if it has an upbeat tempo...

  • Big Wave :)

    I feel the need
    Planted in me
    Millions of years ago
    Can't you see
    The oceans size?
    Defining time
    And time
    Arising
    Arms laid upon me
    Being so kind
    To let me ride

    I scream in affirmation
    Of connecting dislocations
    And exceeding limitations
    By achieving levitation

Got me a big wave, ride me a big wave, got me a big wave.
Nothing divine dies. All good is eternally reproductive. The beauty of nature reforms itself in the mind, and not for barren contemplation, but for new creation. ~ Nature, Emerson

We're FAITHFULL! We all believe. We all believe it.

    (((:D :D:D)))

Those lines alone are just some of the happiest ever to me.
The song makes my face hurt! And I fuckin LOVE it.

    Thin Air
    Parachutes
    Given to Fly

I think these are more positive songs. But lets face it, grunge really was based on angst and misery.

Yeah it is interesting actually. I mean songs like LBC, Down and In Hiding I think are some of the most positive uplifting songs out there. But the lyrics arent necessarily consistently positive. It's more like PJ takes a 'sad song and makes it better'. More often then not they recognize the dark but always shine the light. Ah PJ therapy. The best kind on the planet!! :)

Honestly, I think there are many, many PJ songs that are about depressing topics that include a glimmer of hope.

She holds the hand that holds her down (well, that sucks) ... But ...

She will rise above (that's pretty positive)

I could give other examples, as well.
everybody wants the most they can possibly get
for the least they could possibly do
  • Faithfull, Parachutes, Big Wave, Given to Fly... there's a few :)
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

Gone for me seems to have the beginnings of happiness. It's like the song is abnout taking the steps to become happy. Just getting out of a bad situation, and out into god-knows-where. Just that feeling of setting off has always seemed momentous and joyful to me

    No more upset mornings
    No more tired evenings
    This American dream
    I am disbelieving

When the gas in my tank
Feels like money in the bank
Gonna blow it all this time
    Take me one last ride

For the lights of this city
They only look good when I'm speeding
Gonna leave em all behind me
    Cause this time

    I'm gone

    Long gone
This time I'm letting go of it all
    So long
    Cause this time I'm gone

    In the far off distance
    As my tail-lights fade
    No one thinks to witness
    But they will someday

Feel like a question is forming
    and the answers far
I will be what i could be
Once I get out of this town

For the lights of this city
    They have lost all feeling
Gonna leave em all behind me
    Cause this time

    I'm gone

    Long gone
This time I'm letting go of it all
    So long
Long gone, I'm letting go of it all
    Cause this time I'm gone

    If nothing is everything
If nothing is everything, I'll have it all
    If nothing is everything
If nothing is everything, I'll have it all

    I am gone
deep, deep blue of the morning
    gets to me every time

there's really not that many feel-good PJ songs....which is staggering when you consider the breadth of the PJ catalogue (HUGE)

    Down :)

Rise. Life is in motion. I'm stuck in line.
Oh rise. You can't be neutral on a moving train.
One day... the symptoms fade. Think I'll throw these pills away.
And if hope could grow from dirt like me. It can be done.

Won't let the light escape from me.
Won't let the darkness swallow me.

Those lyrics are some of the happiest to ME personally is what I was saying. :p It all boils down to the individual journey. You said it yourself. ;) I know that everytime I hear Faithfull it hits me in a positive way. Then to hear Ed at MSG '03 say "it's faith in something bigger"..."raise a toast to belief!" Exactly! *chills* :o Thats what I feel everytime I listen to it!!! Belief. Hope. It just fuckin makes me happy and thats all that matters. :D

Aww and yes, the LOVE songs! Of course!! Oceans, Thin Air, Parachutes! *faints*
    :o
Total happiness & warm fuzzies! All the way!
