Song Suggestions

I'm getting married next year and will be doing away with the traditional Father/Daughter dance since my dad was never around. However, I'm replacing it with a Brother/Sister dance. I'm having a hard time even thinking of a song. I know I'd like to be a little different and have a slower alternative rock song. I'd love to have a Pearl Jam song because my brother and I have bonded through PJ. I just can't think of a song which would be appropriate. I do know that PJ has covered many songs as well.

Sooooo, since I know that PJ fans have the best taste in music and usually has a wide variety of music knowledge, I am coming to you! Any suggestions???

That's a tough one. Pj generally don't do dance numbers be it a sow dance or a fast one. Moshing would be they're theme of choice. Still I'm sure there are one or 2 songs out there that might be ok. The only song I can think of at the moment would be around the bend from No Code. Seems light hearted enough and the lyrics aren't too intense for the occassion.
If Pearl Jam was a beer, they'd probably be the best beer in the world!!
  • It doesn't necessarily have to be a PJ song...PJ has covered a lot of songs during the years and if anyone think of one that may be appropriate for the occasion. Also, it could be a slower alternative rock song that someone may find appopriate.

    Thanks for the help!

Congretulations for your next year's wedding!!!!¨
Generally at a wedding they play a waltzer here in Luxemburg don't know what they play at your corner. If you like to do a waltzer you can do it with " I am mine" from pearl jam 'cause there is a 3/4 tact. Maybe the lyrics aren't appropriated:
The selfish theyre all standing in line...
Faith in their hope and to buy themselves time.
Me, I figure as each breath goes by,
    I only own my mind.

The north is to south what the clock is to time.
Theres east and theres west and there everywhere life.
I know that I was born and I know that Ill die.
The in between is mine. I am mine.

And the feeling it gets left behind...
Oh the innocence broken with time...
Were different behind the eyes, theres no need to hide.
    Were safe tonight.

The ocean is full cause everyones crying,
The full moon is looking for friends at high tide.
The sorrow grows bigger when the sorrows denied.
I only know my mind. I am mine.

And the feeling it gets left behind...
Oh the innocence broken with time.
Were different between the lines, theres no need to hide...
    Cause were safe tonight.

And the feeling it gets left behind...
Oh the innocence broken with time.
Were different behind the eyes, theres no need to hide.

And the feeling it gets left behind...
Oh the innocence broken with lies.
    Were different behind the eyes.
    Were safe tonight.

Maybe if you like FOO Fighters you can try it with Virginia moon a song with Norah jones:

    Dearest constellation, heaven surroundin' you
Stay there, soft and blue. Virginia Moon, I'll wait for you tonight
Sweetest invitation, breaking the day in two
Feelin' like I do, Virginia Moon, I'll wait for you tonight

And now our shades become shadows in your light
In the morning wind we're through and tomorrow rescues you,
    I will say goodnight

Secret fascination, whisper a quiet tune
Hear me callin' you, Virginia Moon, I'll wait for you tonight

And now our shades become shadows in your light
In the morning wind we're through and tomorrow rescues you,
    I will say goodnight

Virginia Moon, I'll wait for you tonight

And now our shades become shadows in your light
In the morning wind we're through and tomorrow rescues you,
    I will say goodnight

    I will say goodnight
    I will say goodnight

I hope that you'll find a song. If there is one i find i'll write it in this thread. Good luck.
Beavis : Is this Pearl Jam?
Butt-head: This guy makes faces like Eddie Vedder.
Beavis: No, Eddie Vedder makes faces like this guy.
Butt-head: I heard these guys, like, came first and Pearl Jam ripped them off.
Beavis: No, Pearl Jam came first.
    Butt-head: Well, they both suck.
  • The Rain Song by Zeppelin would be beautiful.

  • ever thought of Harvest Moon?

when i saw pj in concert once, the band had to miss a friends wedding to do this show so they played Harvest Moon and said a little congratulatory message for the friend. it was very endearing.
“I don't know what this means. I don't think it means anything.”
    -Eddie Vedder
  • I've always considered "Come Back" a great slow dancer but it's too sad for a wedding
    Camden I '06, Camden II '06, Bonnaroo '08, Camden I '08, Camden II '08, Philly Spectrum II/III/IV '09, MSG I '10, MSG II '10, Made In America '12, Wrigley '13, Brooklyn II '13, Philly I '13, Philly II '13, ...
  • The more I think about the better an idea "The Rain Song" seems to be.

Harvest Moon is great musicially, but for a bro/sis dance it'd be a bit on the weird side wouldn't it?

'love' and 'in love' mean 2 different things :p

Yeah, Harvest Moon should be the first Bride/Groom dance.

  • If I were to pick a PJ song for a wedding, I would definately go with Around the Bend. But I think it would make a good one for the Bride and Groom, the lyrics seem to fit that well.
Oh he fills it up with the love of a girl...

Love Boat Captain, maybe Wishlist. I think LBC's lyrics fit. Maybe Oceans as well.
