I just preordered the new J Mascis telecaster from Sweetwater. Blue sparkle finish, custom pickups, road worn maple neck, mirror pickguard, top loading bridge...

FYI - If you are looking to save 10% on Fender guitars and gear, you can join Fender Play and buy direct from Fender.  I signed up and they will offer you 50% off if you sign up for a year ($50).  I just checked it out to see if that would apply to this guitar and it does.  So they are listing it at $1214.99 when I signed in (list price on Fender's site is $1349.99).  Just something to consider as I don't have much success finding deals from retailers these days (if you know a secret, please fill me in!).  With Sweetwater listing it at $1299 and subtracting the $50 cost of Fender play, it would only be a $35 saving, but if you buy lots of Fender gear, it may be worth it in the long haul.

Fender Play is a pretty good learning tool as well, depending on your skill.

For me its all about the financing and the customer service i get at Sweetwater really. If Fender had that then I'd give it a shot ordering from them but the way I get paid I can't shell out that much at one time unfortunately but with 6 monthly payments its a lot easier. I have fender play and I agree it is a good learning tool.

Also, when I was in the 14 day trial of Fender Play, they were offering the 10% discount, so you don’t even have to pay for a whole year … sign up, buy, and then cancel … not a huge savings but pennies add up.

That makes sense.  Especially with the financing.  Sweetwater is pretty good.  I'm pretty good about researching my gear, but I have bought several high end items from Sweetwater that a few weeks later I realized did not fit me or my needs and returning for refund was easy and hassle free.

I was near their HQ a few weeks ago and they redid their showroom ... every pedal they stock is now on display ... a plethora of pedals to say the least!  And they have guitars and testing stations setup ... saved me some money on a few pedals that I thought I would like but wasn't as impressed after testing them out.

Damn now I want a new tele.  I got my eye on the all black 70s reissue.  

My wife got me guitar lessons for father s day so lately I m way into playing. Been playing for 25 years but got stagnant.  Played the same stuff over and over again.

wow that is really pretty. congratulations!!

let us know what you think of it being a toploader. i played the jimmy page tele that was a toploader and the strings felt a little slinky to me. i would have had to get used to it.

Thank goodness I just bought a distortion pedal recently or I would be figuring out Euro conversion rates right now.

She came today. "It's road worn" so some wear here and there. Lots of scuff marks on the pickguard and some cool wear on the neck and fingerboard. Will play later and have full review
