Is there room enough for both of us?
Both of us apart?
Are we bound out of obligation?
Is that all we've got?
Get the words, and then I get to thinkin'
I don't wanna think, I wanna feel
How do I feel?
How do I?...

If you're the only one, will I never be enough?
Hail, hail the lucky ones, I refer to those in love

Swore I'd love you till the day I die, ah and beyond...
Are we going to the same place? If so, can I come?
It's egg rolling thick and heavy
All the past you carry
Oh, I could be new... you underestimate me

If you're the only one, will I never be enough?
Hail, hail the lucky ones, I refer to those in love

Sometimes realize, I could only be as good as you'll let me
Are you woman enough to be my man?
Bandaged hand in hand

I find it on the run in a race that can't be won
All hail the lucky ones, I refer to those in love, yeah
If you're my only one, so could you only one?
I want to be your one, enough...
Your one...your one...your one...

Its been one of those nights. Where's my love boat captain?

Anyone else going through relationship BS right now?

  • not right now but ive been though some good bs within the last year. the only thing i can say is that if you really love this person stick with her/him. it will pay off in the end.

Ya, I totally get that. But how many times are you supposed to stick with them? Thats my thing. I'll always love him, that I'll never question.

if it's a repeating issue, then you should really question it. people don't change (unless they have to or are forced to)

dealing with some more intense pain now, to find happiness later, is better than false security and repeated and continuous heartbreak and pain going forward.

whatever you do, keep your head high and walk tall. this is your life and your ride and it's up to you to be strong and smart and make the best of it. don't let anyone drag you down and make you something or someone you're not.

    Everytime I hear the

are you woman enough to be my man

I stop and think - What? Huh?

Every single time. I still don't understand the line. Stops me in confusion every single time. It stops me so abruptly, it's like I dont' think it goes with the rest of the song.

I've been listening to the CD to get in the NO CODE spirit, and I don't think Hail Hail is a love song. I don't think it's props to couples in love, but something beyond that.

    Yes, no?

It's the best line of the song, simply.
Try to understand it using your male part :-)

    WELL SAID.
i've gone thru my share of BS, some self-inflicted, much just due to life circumstances, etc. some long, on-going issues...but absolutely, so worth it. hail, hail has ALWAYS been a personal fave b/c at times it can seem an absolute testament to love and the power of it, and other times it can seem critical of it...just like relationships...it's what YOU take out of it AND give in to it.

    great stuff.
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

I am myself like you somehow

Hail Hail is, and will always be a special song. I think of it as my reintroduction to Pearl Jam song. I never owned Ten or Vs., my brother did. I liked some songs off Ten, most notably Black, but I was turned off on the over exposure the band had back then. At the time I was more into Nirvana and AIC than Pearl Jam. I didn't even follow much of them during the Vitalogy years. Anyways, when I entered college in 1996 a dude I met lent me No Code as he spoke so highly of it, it piqued my interest, especially when he handed me the CD and it had those pictures with the lyrics on, so I took it home, put it in the car and gave it its first spin. Sometimes was nothing special at the time, on the first listen, but then Hail Hail came on, and I was knocked over. It rocked, I had to listen to it again, and I loved the lyric of "are you women enough to be my man". I also enjoy hearing this one live, and it is definitly in my top 20 Pearl Jam songs.

Furthermore, I listened to No Code, returned it, went out and bought it, and have been a rabid fan of Pearl Jam since. I got a little side tracked there from 93-96 but found my way back to the mightly band. No Code still remains my favourite Pearl Jam record and always will.
