My anthem

I was very prompted to write my story after I finally made it to a Pearl Jam show this Last July in Vegas. Also, after I learned that the PJ charity "ONE" supports Crohn's and Colitis foundation, I have to share my story. I was diagnosed in September 2000 with Crohn's, and for 5 years I suffered with the disease, and not only that I was accussed of being a drug addict because I requested something for comfort during one of my episodes. Anyways, April 2005, I went into the hospital for what I thought was just another a routine hospitalization for Crohn's. I went in to have a port put in for IV fluids since my veins were depleted from years of Steroids, and I didn't wake up for 2 months. My body was loaded with infection, my colon was liquified, and my blood wouldn't clot. I was given a death sentence. But by the grace of God, 86 units of blood, less one colon, and some experimental drugs I am ALIVE! I've always been a pearl jam fan since the days of flannel and Doc Marten's, but this song has a whole new meaning to me now. For years, doctors looked at me like I should except that I have a disease and shut my mouth, live or die, except it all- there's nothing we'll be able to do for you. But I have decided that I am still alive, and thankfully a short trip from Oklahoma to the Cleveland Clinic In Cleveland OH- I am better than I have ever been. But man when I went to Vegas and heard "Alive", I had tears in my eyes, and honestly it was a spiritual experience. The day I die, "Alive" will be played at my funeral and everyone is gonna ROCK!
