well, I see each album as a story / theme, so....
The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

And I won't make the same mistakes
    (Because I know)
Because I know how much time that wastes
    (And function)
    Function is the key

As a musician, i tend to think of these threads in terms of how each of the songs are written..

and there have been some puzzlers with me thinking, "okay, those are completely different..." but this has been at the top of that list so far

allryte man get all technical and stuff.i have been playing guitar for a while now and may not have as good ears and skills as you but both those songs imo have a similar mood when they start out,i dont know what it is,maybe the strumming pattern or its just me hearing the same vibe.

    green disease & unemployable

I have to disagree wth these two. Now this is just my opinion, but I don't see the connections here.

"Save You" is, in my opinion, one of Pearl Jam's greatest songs. "Life Wasted" is just ok. A little bland. Both are good live though.

I think "Umemployable" has a sound unlike any other Pearl Jam song. It is kind of like if Pearl Jam and Collective Soul had a baby. It is a really awesome song. I always thought "Green Disease" was very dull all around. My least favorite on Riot Act.
    I love my female wife...
we sit around and wonder exactly why our marriage should feel threatened by gay marriage
  • I have an odd one. Has anyone else noticed the live versions of "Not For You" and "Light Years" start out the same? Find a boot with both and listen to the first few seconds of each. Odd since they are such different songs

i can see the relationship between unemployable and green disease.. well
hm.. kind of haha for me, i'm a drummer. and matt has this sick part in unemployable part where he plays an interesting pattern on the ride cymbal, and in Green Disease he also has a "ride based" rhythm i guess.
    thats all i see.
    Uheard songs Wishlist:
    1. Black
    2. Breath
    3. Low Light
    4. Thin Air
    5. Oceans

when you release a lot of material theres always gonna be songs that end up sounding alike so i dont think its such a bad thing.

    you a musician?

or maybe just an observant fan?

I'd love for you to explain to me what you think is so similar between them.

That's like comparing apples to kiwi.

Ghost being the average but still good song (apples) and Sad being the odd and deliciously vibrant rarity! (kiwi) :)

Mate I'm not about to get off the computer when I should be job hunting, and stick 2 CD's in the CD player just to make some point on an internet message board! You've made your mind up anyway so it's not like it would change it. The basis for your opinion is that you like sad more than ghost. I prefer the original of anything Robbie Williams rips off but it don't make them not sound similar!

as everyone's noticed, porch and severed hand's main riffs sound a lot alike, though severed hand has power chords. the intro also has a touch of light years to it (light years' between verse riff and outro). also, and this is gonna sound really guitar nerdy, there's an interesting chord in severed hand at the start of the "got some kicks..." part which sounds like it's the same starting chord from 'falling down', played @red rocks 95.

and green disease's intro is very similar to mfc's, moved up a couple of frets.

I forgot about that, I think maybe only one of the notes is moved up as well (joins you in the sounding guitar nerdy club)
