It is a great line. Is it from Light Years? If yes, could you post the entire lyrics?

  • I've used hammers made out of wood
I have played games with pieces and rules..
I've deciphered tricks at the bar...
But now you're gone,... I haven't figured out why...
I've come up with riddles... and jokes about war...
I've figured out numbers and what they're for...
I've understood feelings.. and I've understood words...
But how could you be taken away?...

And wherever you've gone...and wherever we might go...
It don't seem fair...today just disappeared...
Your light's reflected now,... reflected from afar...
We were but stones,... your light made us stars

    With heavy breath,... awakened regrets...
Back pages and days alone that could have been spent,
Together... but we were... miles apart
Every inch between us becomes light years now...
No need to be void,... or save up on life...
You got to spend it all.....

And wherever you've gone... and wherever we might go...
It don't seem fair...you seemed to like it here...
Your light's reflected now,... reflected from afar
We were but stones,... your light made us stars

And wherever you've gone... and wherever we might go...
It don't seem fair...today just disappeared...
Your light's reflected now,... reflected from afar...
We were but stones,... your light made us stars

Best version for me is the show where prior to playing the song, it could be Pinkpop 2000, Ed dedicates the song to the woman from Epic who died at the young age of 32. Just adding that emotion to the song, made it special. Ed adds a little improv at the end too.

One of the best stanzas in any PJ song.

i think i have this show. i don't think it was pinkpop, unless he dedicates the song on more than one occassion. and he adds on at the end, not words, just a little extra sing-along at the end?? i can't remember if it was a euro boot or one of the shows from the states. that WAS a sweet version!

  • This song is dealing with the loss of someone close.
there isn't an obvious 'hint' of death, so this song could be about just losing a friend or a broken relationship.
Anyway you see it it talks about a huge distance ('Light Years') between people who used to be really close.

I found out the show, it was Rock Am Ring 2000, not Pinkpop.

Ehh, are you sure? I just deleted the video of the performance on pinkpop from my harddrive. I was thinking that it sure wasn't their best performance overall.. I just didn't like. When I saw/listened other shows, the really blew a roof off with the music, but I just didn't have that with the pinkpop 2000 show....
