Take Me Out to The Ball Game

I think this topic can fit here since I first questioned it by watching Eddie sing at Wrigley in 1998 via YouTube. After watching it, I watched several others and noticed that other people have said it the same way Eddie did. So here is my question. When I sing it I sing "Root, Root, Root for the home team, if they don't win it's a SHAME" and I noticed others sing on YouTube (including Eddie) who sing "Root, Root, Root, for the home team (or Cubbies), if they don't win it's a GAME"

Which is it? Is it shame or game? I couldn't of sung the wrong lyrics for 24 years now could I? Eddie and Deven Hester both said "shame" Jeff Gordon probably said both. But does anyone know?

Well, I think for the Cubbies if they don't win then it is a game. They've lost for so long that it's not even a shame if they don't win anymore. If they don't win it's just another game.

so Cubs fans actually sing it that way? "If they don't win it's a game"
