2010

I'm sure this is a rehashed thread, but I'm new to the messageboard, so can somebody tell me what they think the meaning of "2010, watch it go to fire" is. Is it a reference to the year 2010 and the endtimes?
You can spend your time alone, re-digesting past regrets, oh
Or you can come to terms and realize
You're the only one who cannot forgive yourself, oh
Makes much more sense, to live in the present tense

I take it as if we keep up the shit we do to the enviornment and wars, etc., in 2010 the Earth will become a resourceless, and useless place, because of evolution. (Probably an overstatement/exaggeration).

yeah, exactly. I don't think there's any significance to the year 2010. it was probably just chosen at random because it fit the beat.

what ed means is, basically, "keep this shit up and the earth will be no more."

  • i think that there my be a reference to the year 2010. The ancient Myan (sp) calendar ends in Dec of the year 2010 or 2012. i always thought that was the reference

Yeah, i think "2010 watch it go to fire" sounds better than "2032 watch it go to fire!"

Now the real question, what will happen when Paul DOES turn 64???

Actually, if you rifle through all the Yield media interviews, you'd find that the line comes from this book that Ed was keen on at the time (I'll take a second, see if I can find it)...

Found it. This quote is from George Magazine, July 2000:

"Like a lot of high-school dropouts who read avidly, he seems uneasy expressing knowledge. To explain his opinions, he invokes books he admires-Howard Zinn's anti-capitalist analyses of American history, and Visions, Michio Kaku's alarmist view of the future of science."

    Link is here:

It's not exactly what you're looking for, but I know that the Visions book is where the 2010 line comes from.
  • i don't see where that interview says anything about that line in DTE, can you be more specific about how you know that book is Eddie's reference?

I have been wanting to ask Eddie this question for 8 years now... i believe he has some info from indigenous elders or something, indicating some serious earth changes activity in 2010... which would fit right in w/ the Hopi prophecies and Mayan calendar (which ends on 12/21/2012)

but as the Hopi say, the future is never set, and is always flexible. But w/ the Bush regime, we are headed full speed toward WWS... but I would still really like to know exactly where Eddie came up w/ that line from...
    11/1/92, 10/30/93, 10/31/93, 11/7/95, 7/13/98, 10/21/00, 10/31/00, 10/21/01, 6/3/03, 5/20/06, 6/23/06, 10/4/09
  • I really hate it when people pick a date and say that's the end of the world... or that's the end of oil or the end of air, water you pick it. It's so sad that so many people waste their time on this instead of something more productive. I mean just off the top of my head I remember these dates that were widely held as the end of the world:

9-9-99 (the four nines thing, it was a computer thing, like Y2K eve)
1-1-2000 (oh there are so many for this one Y2K, the second coming yada yada)
5-5-2001 (the alignment of the ancient known plantets, gravitational yada yada)
2003? (anyone remember the asteroid one?)
    6-6-2006 (satan are you there?)

All the rana rana rana shit codeine and NOTHING! Yet an actual important date 9/11/2001 actually happened and everyone wants to forget it as if it means nothing. I guess it's easier to beleive in something fake. I look back on 9/11 and I remember how close we actually came to loosing it all. I'm in NYC right now and it's kinda hard to forget.

They Myan calendar?!?! Come on. They chopped up people and to the sun god, but wait their science on the calendar must be dead on right?

  • 12/21/2012 is not the end of the world, but rather seen by many in the metaphysical community as a rare and special opportunity for planetary transformation. The gregorian calendar is an arbitrary error in time, whereas the mayan calendar is the true universal timing frequency. (your comments about 9/11 are totally irrelevant to this discussion btw.) The Mayans were much more advanced than mainstream history would have you know... see:
