When Did Eddie Stop Wearing IEMs?

As far as I can tell he started wearing in ear monitors in 2006, and in the recently released ‘16/‘18 shows he’s not wearing them and is back to having a big ass semicircle of monitors on stage. When did this change? Did he ever comment?
