This is a love for "Gone" thread ... specifically Chicago May 17, 2006!
I so wanted to hear Gone as they hadn't played it the night before. Needless to say I was stoked to the heavens when I heard the drum intro as eddie introduced "We're gonna try one for ya ... this ones called Gooooone"! I loved it!!! There was huge significane for me in wanting to hear this ... then feeling stoked it was played and then so wildly my feelings and all the significance were confirmed with the story Eddie shared afterward ...
For those of you there and those not ... after the song finished there was a grand interaction with Mike McCready and the audience. He raised his guitar and the crowd cheered wildly ... eddie had no idea what was going on ... after two rounds of this ed said ...
"I missed something ... (noticed what was going on) ... God dam. You sayin its that easy. It’s not about spending day in and day out tryin’ to find the perfect chord change and just the right words and all … All you have to do is (crowd cheers) … That’s just … Actually I guess if you are Mike McCready you can away with that, it works! ...
So that last song I was kinda thinkin’ about growing up here in a, in a, in a way ya know even a big city can be a small town if if you know a certain amount of people and your in a small group and there’s a circle, and it can be a really great thing and then then you realize that you can’t change. That the people around you won’t let you change and so you can’t get better because everyone will think it’s a little, you might be doing odd behavior but its really you're just trying to change and so a, that last song I guess is about having to get out of town just so you can change and a, I love Chicago and a lot of changes took place here for me but I, to be honest I had to get out in order to change. So then a then ya end up in Seattle where they a make music and they also make bombs and this song is called Insignificance …"
The McCready moment was priceless! And I know it is obvious the song is about leaving and going somewhere new. I just wasn't sure if it was written about leaving Chicago, San Diego or something metaphorical. I had been feeling the exact sentiments that Ed shared about the big/small town and sometimes you have to leave to change!! It blew me away!
I love Pearl Jam for the music and the insight. I always find it so uncanny when a new album/cd comes out how it totally impacts the collective and personal mind. I love the consciousness of Pearl Jam and Eddie!!!
Needless to say, I haven't moved yet ... but am looking to. There are few things I need to do and deal with, so probably another year. I have the silliest of requests ... when ya hear "Gone" and if you can remember please send a good thought to me and all others knowing its time to leave and/or change ... to give support to the adventure.
Thanks and Cheers!!!

Oh my, they dropped the leash.
Morgan Freeman/Clint Eastwood 08' for President!
"Make our day"
I'll have it all"
One of my favorite lines in any Pearl Jam song.
And that failure's no success at all."
"Don't ya think its sometimes wise not to grow up."
"Cause life ain't nothing but a good groove
A good mixed tape to put you in the right mood."
