Vitalogy Flashback

I am sitting back listening to Vitalogy, Tremor Christ to be more specific, and thinking, Holy Shit....
Just listening to the words, and going back to Vitalogy. Think back to when you were really into Vitalogy. And that is why I love Vitalogy, and Fear it. When I was really into Vitalogy, my mind was dark. Twisted. But not crazy. Very Real.
I wasn't really sad...Or longing or whatever...For me, Ten and VS to a lesser extent, just put me in a TEN frame of mind.i feel small. With Vitalogy it makes me feel strong. It makes me feel big. More in control..I like that. I like the state of mind Vitalogy has.
The after, No Code (In my tree is my favorite PJ), Yield, Binaural (dark again, but not at strong), Riot Act, and Pearl Jam (great album though), are all great in their own way.
But for me, nothing was like Vitalogy...

I have to say i have opposite feelings.....VS felt like a more confident perspective as a whole album to me
Vitalogy gives me the idea of just locking yourself in a small room and going crazy with your thoughts.
Interesting point... never thought about it that way before.
hey fox creeps me out big time alot of the time i have to skip it
Personally, for the most part I believe the following albums are actually much better for a lot of reasons, but Vitalogy is gonna be reveered by us forever.. it's that emotion.. that energy.. it could've only happened like it did back in 1994. That was a special moment.. culmination of a lot of things all colliding at once..
So Pearl Jam will (and has) produced much better albums than vitalogy (houses of the holy ), but this one's always going to be so so so so special.
BTW, I don't think Zep. 4 is their emotional highlight or their best album, but it's the one most people remember (stairway, baby).

"Make our day"
I really like that song. Before midnight that is Something about it draws me to it. It's so unique and I've never heard anything like it. The way the drums take you on a ride with the weird guitar tidbits, and the Jeff's bassline  Good "song".
I hear ya...and with what i said, Vitalogy definately does have that feeling also...
As far as personal strength as I mentioned earlier, some lyrics that stand out to me...
Last Exit
"Let the ocean swell, dissolve 'way my past
Three days, and maybe longer, won't even know I've left " for me they're saying the Earth will do its thing, and so will I...
I always took the tremor chirst lyrics as follows, i may be wrong,
"i'll decide, take the time,
take my time, not my life,
wait for signs, believe in lies,
to get by, its still mine..."
For me it means, this is my life, I will choose what i do, and where I go...
Whipping,
"Don't need a helmet, got a hard, hard head
Don't need a raincoat, I'm already wet
Don't need a bandage, there's too much...blood...
After a while, seems to roll right off...hmm..."
For me, its the same as saying, come on, fuck with me, I dare you...
And the list goes on...Its tough...Not to mention music and pure emotion behind last exit, whipping, spin the black circle, etc. etc.

yeah, i can definately see that...I think no code doesnt really fit in with the Zep link ,but yield kind of has a houses of the holy feel to it...Its funny because Houses of the Holy was my first zeplin cd. I loved over the hills and far away..thats why i started with that one. the whole cd is great. I have since bought almost all of their cds, and have some on record. I also saw, Plant open for the Who few years back. The years have caught up wit hhim, especially compared to Daultry(sp) who looks much better. Zeplin is great.

".. It's Divine!! Oooooohoo oh ohhhhhhhhhhh... oh you know what it's like!.."
*shrugs*
I like your take too so I could be wrong, but hearing it live I think I hear ed pronunce that "V" in divine.

"Its still mine" would be a nice live version change of the lyrics if it ever happened...But when I listen i hear the V too...

Check out the liner notes for Tremor Christ... "It's Divine" is written in big letters with a whole lot of exclamation points. Kinda cool.

That's what makes Vitalogy so awesome, at least that's one of the many things that makes it KICK ASS!!!
