It funny to read about all the excitement for yellow ledbetter.
When pearl jam plays it, people complain and are sick of it.
When it turns up at an eddie show, its the highlight of the tour.
I bet if the entire band came out and did even flow, people would be in awe! Maybe its just me, but I think this is a bit funny:-)
It is funny. I was at Berkeley 2, and I kept saying to myself afterwards, "I can't believe I was so excited over Ledbetter." I guess that's what happens when the band only announces an east coast tour, you get desperate for any pearl jam, even if it's only 2/5 of pearl jam.
Weren't they all the same? That's like asking what was the best Tom Petty show from the 06 PJ/Petty shows... (and at least PJ was mixing up the setlists on that tour!!!! Goddamn do I love Pearl Jam!)
Methinks this thread is experiencing technical difficulties. I mean, he was still Eddie at Berk1 and yeah, we got to hear the rare "yeastie girls" hit! So we had a lot of fun, but, I dunno, drum circle, college campus -- I've had professors more passionate about lecturing....
I hafta wonder, two nights up in Van, putting it all together for the first time. Santa Cruz was soooo small, Saturday night and uh, it's Santa Cruz -- we laughed at a five minute story about ROOM SERVICE. heheheh
Berkeley 1 kinda like the first big city gut check? yeah yeah, VAn is huge, but I dunno. berk1 he tried something, it didn't work, and he definitely changed his game plan for the rest of the tour from what I've read....
I'm quite jealous of those who got to see multiple shows, even with the largely consistent setlists. I was at San Diego 1 and it was one of the best concert experiences of my life. Ed's voice was absolutely beautiful and I won't forget any moments of that show anytime soon. Being able to hear the ITW material, Patriot, Masters of War, and Arc live in this kind of setting was truly a blessing. I've been listening to the Berkeley boot that is out there and I'm really hoping we get a similar recording from SD 1.
Thanks so much to Ed and everyone who helped make these shows happen.
SB: 2nd row left (mike's side)
LA1: 5th row center
LA2: 3rd row center, then standing front row center with my arms on the stage for like the last 3 songs
SD1: 12th row center
I think the sound was the best at SB cause i turned to October22 and said I'd pay $1000 for a boot of the first 4-5 songs. Yes it was my first ed solo show which added to it greatly, but i was constantly saying that the acoustics were great to The Arlington Theatre. And yes that was my favorite venue. Ed comin down the rope was fuckin sick.
seeing the Arc experiment at LA1 was awesome and jaw dropping
seeing Jack Irons was badass and being front row center was the freakin best time and I'll let October22 explain to you later about ed passing him his guitar pic. (I was so close to getting it). It was so uterly awesome being there and so close for "the new" Hard Sun. There was just so much depth to that song that filled the audience with life. thank you ed!
SD1 was funny, everyone was a little tired i think and the drum beat loop was funny as fuck.
I WANT BOOTLEGS
ps during a couple of the shows all i could think about was MSG....
I caught SB, LA1, LA2, and SD2... and my hands down favorite was LA2!!
It was unbelievable. Eddie was in a great mood, the energy in the Wiltern was awesome... Jack Irons, Ben Harper, "All Along the Watchtower!!!" A stunning Arc on night 2... an enthusiastic and angry "No More." Almost the entire crowd on it's feet from Porch ending the 1st set through BOTH encores. Of the four shows I caught, that was the ONLY crowd to do that.
I saw SD2 last night and I thought it was great, more rarities, but over all the show was not as strong as LA2. Bit of a weird crowd.
I have been listening to the Berkley 2 boot and it sounds awesome!! But I wasn't there, so I'm going with LA2.
The one person I know who saw every show but Vancouver says LA2 was his favorite as well, but that Berkley 2 was a very close second.
Each of the shows was so unique in there own way, the stories... the vibe in the room, the way he approached the songs. (ALthough, I know the setlists didn't change much). Loved it all!
I missed the LA show even though I had tickets for it. Had to sell them and saw San Diego 2. Good show. If I had my choice of all the shows LA2 would have been it. Ive seen 3 PJ shows including this one and they are hit and miss. Ed seems to have a love hate thing going on with his home town. Fans in SD to me seem like hooligans. Sun baked, drunken rowdies. Makes LA seem tame.

Hilarious Ed had some moves during the experiment too
My vote, however would be SD II. Ed was polished and on his game, and the mom stuff was touching.
