Concepts, sayings, and objects that make little or no sense.

There are common concepts, sayings and objects that we take for granted that actually make little or no sense.

For example:

"A watched pot never boils."
Of course they don't.  But the water does... eventually.

"Vacuum cleaners are a housekeepers best friend."
No they're not.  First of all, houses are not vacuums, and secondly, vacuums are not dirty.

Others?

A bird in a hand is worth two in a Bush. Although I just had to check that is the right saying and when the meaning was described it actually made sense.  I guess I just never knew what it meant before.

That one makes perfect sense, it's just annoying.

I totally agree.  Unless I say it.

(Blame it on my wife.  She says that fairly often and after being around her for almost 20 years, I find myself doing the same... it's really not my favorite saying!)
