Ok I think this is about fame and how Ed's real friends don't call him anymore because he is always surrounded by people who want to hang out with him because of what he is. But there are things I don't get like "And you dare say it belongs to you", "With no power, nothing to do" is this about the record industry?

    I have a totally different view on this song maybe it will help fill in the blanks.

    I think it is about the loss of idealism and the naïve power of youth. And this song is not for those who lost faith in a better world it is for those who hang in there and charish the kid inside them. They who still remember how it is to want things to change, they who remember how hard that is, they who want to keep that feeling rather than give in. they may know that this song is for them. It is not for the money makers who forgot what once lay at their heart. This song is for those who are pure.

    I actually always heard Small mind table. As if sitting in his mind, a way to say he was thinking and that it got so crowded too much on his mind getting crazy from all the thoughts.

    I like it that way even though I now see that it is small my table.

    I agree with you that the song is about Ed´s life in fame. But I think he wants to tell us fans that we act like he´s common property and that we lack in respect for his integrety. I think at the time he was exhausted after the success with Ten, and tired of being explioted for his looks. I read in an interview where he wanted us (girls) to know that he already had a girlfriend an so on. In other words, I think he wants to tell us that his private life belongs to him and not to us. We should be happy taking part in the music. I guess there can be different perspective on this and maybe you´re right about that its about the record industry.
