Members of Congress, not all federally elected leaders. So the executive branch is excluded. Great.

Interesting that Hawley digs this back up after AOC and Bernie have been getting real traction with it the past couple of weeks.

It’ll never be brought to a vote in one or both chambers this congress. Hee Hawley knows this. Performance art.

Someone post the GIF of Hee Hawley running through the halls of congress.

Tuberville says his wife's homestead exemption established his residency in Alabama, but election records show the Tubervilles voted in Florida after that. And that's only the beginning. https://www.al.com/news/2025/05/why-did-tommy-tuberville-vote-in-florida-if-he-lived-in-alabama.html

A quote from something I read today that illustrates the major tragedy of where things have been heading:
"...they have become foot soldiers in a war against their own future."

"It's a sad and beautiful world"

You thought Trump couldn’t  be stupider, but there’s always more. He is going to reopen Alcatraz. First, it’s a great tourist attraction so goodbye to that. Second if you’ve been there, you’ll know it’s in no shape to be an active prison. It will take millions to bring it up to code and years. And for what? Do we have some epidemic of prison escapes?

Today had to have been a top 10 day of idiocy for him. The morning shows and not defending the constitution and making money by not paying China by hurting our own economy, Alcatraz, the film tariffs. Tremendous run.

Just another whim that everyone's too scared to even challenge him on.

I have been there, and I thought it would be more likely to be condemned and closed to tours than ever being re-oponed but we need to tell the emperor that he's clothed.

Yes, to make it acceptable as a national park.  There is a $50MM renovation going on.  It doesn't make habitable.  There is no water source and I'm not even sure it's hooked up to a power grid.  It would probably cost 250MM+ just to house 350 prisoners.  And years of work.  Not to mention the lost revenue.  Today it hosts 1.6MM visitors a year and generates 60MM.

I really like the place.  The night tour is fantastic.

After Shawshank(old Ohio State Pen in Mansfield) somebody in Ohio thought it wise to capitalize on the interest.
They've preserved portions of the prison. Tourist and venue revenue.
Inkcareration Music Festival happens every year now. Heavy Heavy Metal and tattoo festival.

    Annual Halloween Haunted House...

    etc.

I think Pete Hegseth is going to have another tough day tomorrow. Turns out he used Signal often and it was his aide that posted the Houthi messages. Yet he never mentioned that.

What exactly is wrong with ADX super max? Or the new super max being built in Kentucky. Please explain to us why investing close to a billion dollars in a rock that has neither running water or electricity is better than ADX.
