After John Adams beat Thomas Jefferson in the presidential election of 1800, the two men broke off correspondence; they began writing to one another again in 1812, and below is one of the first letters that they exchanged. Adams died in Quincy, Massachusetts, on July 4, 1826—the fiftieth anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. His last words were “Jefferson lives.” Jefferson, in fact, had died hours earlier in Monticello, Virginia. He had asked his attending physician, “Is it the Fourth?”
A letter from you calls up recollections very dear to my mind. It carries me back to the times when, beset with difficulties and dangers, we were fellow laborers in the same cause, struggling for what is most valuable to man, his right of self-government. Laboring always at the same oar, with some wave ever ahead threatening to overwhelm us and yet passing harmless under our bark, we knew not how, we rode through the storm with heart and hand, and made a happy port. Still we did not expect to be without rubs and difficulties—and we have had them. First the detention of the Western posts: then the coalition of Pillnitz, outlawing our commerce with France, and the British enforcement of the outlawry. In your day French depredations: in mine English, and the Berlin and Milan decrees: now the English orders of council and the piracies they authorize. When these shall be over, it will be the impressment of our seamen, or something else: and so we have gone on, and so we shall go on, puzzled and prospering beyond example in the history of man. And I do believe we shall continue to grow, to multiply and prosper until we exhibit an association, powerful, wise, and happy beyond what has yet been seen by men. As for France and England, with all their preeminence in science, the one is a den of robbers, and the other of pirates. And if science produces no better fruits than tyranny, murder, rapine, and destitution of national morality, I would rather wish our country to be ignorant, honest, and estimable as our neighboring savages are.
And remind them of this as well. Hypocriting much?

If anyone ever has the chance read Adams. Fascinating book. I would also tell everyone to read the letters these two wrote back and forth to each other. Wordsmiths the both of them.

They opposed the infrastructure law. Now, some in the GOP court its cash.
Republicans have cheered the arrival of new federal money to improve local roads, bridges, pipes, ports and internet connections, nearly two years after voting against those very investments
It is not hypocritical to vote against something and then use the $ that comes through on projects that matter. That's how adults work. You have your say, you lose, you move on.
Now - as gimmie states...trying to take credit for it is pure hypocrisy and political for sure

thats not the point. you would look to punish those who voted for your(specifically you) preferred candidate or party in addition to those ineligible to vote for what ever reason as a consequence of your stance of retaliation against a member or senator.

i watched episode one and two last night. very good show so far. i think he got a golden globe for his portrayal or something like that. best actor in a miniseries i think. the woman that played his wife also won a best actress award i believe. the guys that played jefferson and franklin also both won supporting actor awards for that series. my gf started watching it last week and she got me to watch it. the award information i got from her, so don't blame me if not entirely correct, haha. she said it won something like 58 different awards.

its not right.
I believe elections should have consequences, particularly on spending bills or when the opposition party is so vociferously against something. The dems who voted against the repub congress member don’t need convincing. It’s the indies and repub voters who need to experience the consequences of their vote, you know, “pull yourself up by the bootstraps?”

An outspoken supporter of Donald Trump, Rogers led a successful primary challenge in 2020 against incumbent Republican state senator Sylvia Allenand defeated Democrat Felicia French in the general election.[3][4] She had previously made five unsuccessful campaigns for public office.[5]
Since her election, Rogers has emerged as a divisive and controversial figure, embracing inflammatory rhetoric including the Great Replacementconspiracy theory and appearing on TruNews.[6][7][8][9] Rogers is a member of Oath Keepers, an anti-government militia whose members took part in the 2021 U.S. Capitol attack.[10] Rogers has been described as a supporter of white nationalism.[11][12][13][14]
In March 2022, the Republican-controlled Arizona Senate censured her for remarks she made at the white nationalist America First Political Action Conference, and weeks later opened an ethics inquiry after she suggested the 2022 Buffalo shooting was a false flag operation conducted by the federal government.
