I will be in Portland, Or in October and my parents are terrified of me going out there because of the protests and the wildfires.
Are the protests as bad as media is portraying it? They watch Fox News.. soo..... 
I figured I'd ask someone who lives there
What area should I stay out of to be safe? 
any tips?

    Haven’t been there, but my guess is the protests are bad within a block or 2 at night. Avoid those blocks at night and you’re fine.
    Just my guess until someone with first hand info chimes in.

    You better watch out for Antifa and MS-13 and SOCIALISTS their burning down the city



    In reality, which we know has a liberal bias, the protests are in and around a few blocks in the city.
    In theory, and with the fires dissipating, you should be fine.

    Following these comments, several rightwing demonstrators were recorded using gas and bats on 22 August, where Melchi and his militia were also present.

    In other remarks ahead of the day, Melchi draws on what he claims is his group’s history of traveling to multiple states to engage in violence at protests.

    “My Group 1776 2.0. Has been fighting Antifa in Seattle, Portland, for months”, Melchi writes, adding “this won’t be a simple fist fight. People will get shot, stabbed and beat.”

    He also claims police cooperation in interstate violence, writing “Yes, going after them at night is the solution… Like we do in other states, tactical ambushes at night while backing up the police are key. You get the leaders and the violent ones and the police are happy to shut their mouths and cameras.”

    Melchi nevertheless recommends that members disguise themselves to avoid the consequences of homicide.

    “We must be ready to defend with lethal response… Suggest wearing mask and nothing to identify you on Camera…to prevent any future prosecution.”

    Just because a whole city wasn’t trashed doesn’t mean there isn’t a problem.  People live and work in some of these areas and weren’t protected by the police they were paying taxes for.

    You characterized them as “lawless gatherings.” Gatherings in and of themselves are not lawless nor have they been outlawed. The freedom to assemble is protected by 1A, which comes before the 2A. That some knuckle heads like right wing terrorist Umbrella Man commit unlawful acts doesn’t make the gatherings “lawless.” Anyway, good to know people still think Seattle has fallen.

    Did I not just say that whole cities haven’t burned down?  I was talking about neighborhoods and sections of town.  I never said Seattle has fallen.  

    I said lawless gatherings not lawless protests.  

    You don’t realize that Trump’s sole hope of winning this election is that looting and property damage continues.  

    You are arguing with me like we aren’t on the same side.  It’s silly.  We both want Trump out.     I haven't ignored anything. I have posted numerous times about the rioting and looting. I just don't subscribe to the world is ending because of antifa bullshit that's spread for political gain.
