RIP Toots Hibberts from Toots and the Maytls

2020 sucks.

Toots Hibberts, reggae, ska pioneer and lead singer from Toots and the Maytls passed today.  He was a bucket list of mine to see and now that is impossible.

If you enjoyed Sublimes 40oz to Freedom album then you've heard his songs.

Pressure Drop and his rendition of John Denvers Country Roads are some must listen to songs.

RIP

Please read what Trey Anastasio said about him.  Toots said that he "needed to believe in every single word in a song to perform it"  That is powerful.

Oh man, very sad.  R.I.P Toots.
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.

  • Watching Brees vs Brady and going into commercial break I hear Pressure Drop in the background.  Never thought I'd hear that.  Made me smile and sad at the same time.
