Has Leash Yet Been Explored Here?

Besides being an absolute rocking f'ing song, I enjoy the lyrics some as well.

1.) "I am fuel, you are friends, we got the means to make amends"

This kind of confuses me. Why and to whom is he fuel...other troubled souls? Why does he need to make amends with them?

2.) "I am lost, I'm no guide, but I'm by your side...I am right by your side"

I LOVE this line.

3.) What the hell does he say at the beginning of the second verse? Ten Club says "young lover I stand" but I've always thought it was something like "you're never..."

4.) "It was their idea, I proved to be a man"

What was their idea?

5.) "Will myself to find a home, a home within myself...we will find a way, we will find our place"

Such a cliched 20-something lyric. But, speaking as a child of the '90s, I love it...'tis mine.

Thoughts?

I'm pretty sure that line is just supposed to be a sign of unity between him and his fellow youth (at that time, at least). Making amends, as in making amends with your troubles together.

"2.) 'I am lost, I'm no guide, but I'm by your side...I am right by your side.' I LOVE this line."

    Totally. Me too.

"3.) What the hell does he say at the beginning of the second verse? Ten Club says 'young lover I stand' but I've always thought it was something like 'you're never...'"

It's definitely "young lover I stand."

"4.) "It was their idea, I proved to be a man." What was their idea?"

That whole verse is debated, but I think the general consensus is that it has something to do with some sort of father's explanation of a sexual encounter leading to an illegitimate birth (Ed's? I don't know). Not sure about that one, though... I could be wrong.

"5.) "Will myself to find a home, a home within myself...we will find a way, we will find our place." Such a cliched 20-something lyric. But, speaking as a child of the '90s, I love it...'tis mine."

Definitely! Leash rocks, even if the lyrics aren't exactly the most creative. It has a statement, it states it, and does so with some serious attitude. You gotta love that.
It's a town full of losers and I'm pulling out of here to win

Dude, if every post on the Words and Music forum was as thoughtful and to-the-point as this one...we'd have every song knocked out in two weeks. I love it, thanks man.
