They aren’t in the constitution.   Why do we continue this madness and not move to ranked choice voting with no party affiliation?

    Can you name one country with a functioning democracy where this type of political system not only exists but is also successful?

    Because you need to have some semblance of order to the inherent chaos. Even Putin on the ritz recognized that The Ukraine needed a “party” like Party of Regions and Opposition Bloc.
