Double sided tour posters: Yay or Nay?

Personally, I don't get it but I'd like to hear others thoughts. It's a poster /art. It SHOULD be meant for display. Why do the artists have to have art on both sides of the poster?! Not knocking at all, but I would just kinda like to know their thoughts around that.

When I buy a tour poster at a show, I immediately go into "Is this frameable or not" mode.

These double sided posters these last few years have been killing me - because for the ones I like (frame material) - I feel neglected for the other side of the poster. So when possible, I'm forced to buy an extra copy of the poster so I can frame and mount it next to the other one.

The reason this came to my mind, again, was because I LOVE the artwork on the Quebec poster (both sides) - but because I can only purchase 1 poster with my 10c membership- I'm kinda forced to go with the 3rd party market. Both sides framed would compliment each other SO well in my house.

/end of my rant but would love to hear others thoughts around double sided posters.

Do you also have to sometimes buy another copy just to display the otherside of the poster? Or is it just me?

It’s a bummer not to be able to see it, but I do like it. Sometimes gives me insight to the design. Other times I get a good laugh, as with the back of my Jacksonville 2016 (actually love the print and what a show!).

I have seen clear backs to frames before. But you’d still have to pull it off the wall to see it. If I really need to see it I guess I can google it. Definitely don’t have wall space for two copies! My room is nearly full and I may have to start rotating prints!

Hah fair enough! I also know about wall space "real estate" challeges for all of my posters. There are a few PJ double sided posters in my collection that complement each other very nicely in my house - and the Quebec 2020 would look great paired to eachother in my (guest bathroom - weird...yeah...but it would look great lol) ... But again... Here I am kinda backed into a wall to purchase a poster 3x what the retail price was..

Ugh! The pros and cons of collecting tour posters! Hah

@Habit4me I'll give you first shot at a Quebec AP for $100 shipped. Anybody else $96 plus shipping after OP replies.

It’s tough to resist the call of the poster! I never got one until my 2012 Atlanta (personal favorite). Now I’m hooked!

Someone said on the other thread that they get a scan copy of the back and mount it to the back of the frame. That's a good, cheap alternative.

It’s more space for artistic creativity and communication. The Portland Emek 2013 is my favourite of the ones I’ve had.

The dface London poster back kinda bled through to the front. No biggie but still did.  I like to to see what the artist adds.

I like reading what's on the back, but once its framed I'll never see it again.

On my list of things to do is flip the W16 poster around to have the Plague Doctor poster back out.

Cool stories but not worth framing imo. Scan a small copy and put it in the frame mounting maybe? I framed my SD poster with a mini setlist and the tickets underneath. You can do the same with a mini scan of the story

Would be nice to have the vault to match that poster! Just saying 😀

I frame mine with a glass back. Costs more but I can flip it around (which I never do) or take it down to show the back when guests are looking at them.

To me it just needs to be commentary on the poster itself. It shouldn’t look good or have images. Or us crazies gotta buy double glassed frames. Lol. No offense.

I wonder why they never released that. I thought maybe because they played a few seconds of london calling? Who knows.

I have framed one with glass and matting on the back side, makes for a cool conversation piece for sure and i end up taking it off the wall quite often to show people.  I am sure will do more like that.  the back does not have a finished frame on it just used framers tape to finish it off.  Does make the print much heavier however with extra glass.

Jacksonville was such a bad poster that the back looked better.

To be honest I like the colors just not the execution.

I think it’s cool! I just get a plexiglass back (not much more expensive).

It doesn’t need to be seen all the time. It’s a cool little detail to be seen irregularly.
