  • i dont know if anyone is reading this thread anymore but oh well

yesterday was a wierd day. i got up, and listened to Lost Dogs to start the day. i was supposed to go out with a friend but she bailed so i went for a drive with my sister and her friend. as we were driving around, my sisters friend stopped for a minute at what she thought was a stop sign. then my sister said "why are you stopped at a yield sign?" since there was no traffic. we laughed and drove away. a while later my sister asked what CD i wanted to listen to and i said "i dont care, whatever" and as she pulled Lost Dogs out of the CD book i noticed that the song playing quietly on the radio was 4/20/02, the hidden track on Disc 2 of Lost Dogs. all i can say is that i love when this stuff happens.

  • The best one I can add...
One night when I was fast asleep (with my radio on) i woke up at about 3am just in time to hear the intro (Eddie yelling) to Even Flow.
I got back to sleep about 4 minutes later.
When my alarm clock went off at 6am, as soon as I turned the alarm off, 46+2 by Tool started on the radio.

  • The day when I first "discovered" Pearl Jam was on Eddie's birthday back when I was 14...reasong I have discovered in parentheses is because I remember first seeing them on TV for the Jeremy video when I was 4 (Ten years apart, and their first album was "Ten"!!).

Got a lot more but I thought I'd share that since Eddie's bday is tomorrow...Happy Birthday Eddie!!!

  • Since i became a fan i have noticed a series of wierd, coincidental things related to Pearl Jam happening around me and i would like to know if anyone has had similar experiences or if i am reading into things too much...which is likely...

...i work at a restaurant and when the oven is on, staff cant hear the radio. in the five minutes before i leave when everything is turned off, a Pearl Jam song often comes on the radio for me to hear.

in the past, whenever my mom would give me the coveted privelage of controlling the car radio, Pearl Jam would be on. (i should mention, the words Pearl Jam are rarely heard in my area)

i also just realized a while ago that the Live at the Showbox DVD, which was the first Pearl Jam recording i ever watched, was recorded on my twelfth birthday.

after bringing home the first Pearl Jam disc i ever bought (a show from New York)i noticed it was recorded on my best friend/cousins birthday.

just recently i bought a bootleg of a show in Toronto (the only PJ recording in the store i didnt already have) and when i brought it home and showed it to my brother-in-law, he told me that not only was he at that show but it's the only one he's attended that he doesnt have a bootleg of.

at my first Pearl Jam concert, my sister and i were told that the seats we had payed for were unavailable (they were right behind the stage, first row) so we would be relocated. we were really nervous and angry but when we were taken to our new seats, they were to the right of the stage, twelve rows back in the lower bowl. in other words, the best seats i have had to date.

last but not least...at either the first or second show i saw the band did a tag of "Why can't I touch it" by the Buzzcocks. i dont think i had ever actually heard it before but when i was little and would make up songs i used to sing that song...i thought i made it up until i heard the guys play it.

these are just a few things i can think of that struck me as being odd. if you think im crazy let me know...sometimes i think that i just look for wierd coincidences so i'd really like to know if im the only one who experiences this.
This may be a stupid coincidence, but when i was in Hawaii i got a "10" pence back for change instead of a quarter, and it was from the year 1992 which is the year in which i first saw pj. I am keeping it forever as my lucky coin! A very cool souvenir from the best time of my life!!

    Peace!

My ex husband's name is "Eddie" and his grandma "Pearl" makes great "jam". The first thing he ever bought for me was a "pearl" ring. My maiden name is "Gossart" and originates from a small clan in Scotland and "Gossard" is merely a variant spelling.
My name is "Heather", as is the cousin Eddie wrote Daughter supposedly about.
But nah, I never noticed any similar things...LOL!!!!
There is probably more, I have to think....hmmmm....*thinking*....

The strangest PJ coincidence I've had was back in 99 when I was driving from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, I came upon this road that appeared out of nowhere, I was driving for at least 6 hours straight, and I had to stop and pull over to the side. I got out my car, and walked back about 20 feet and realized where I saw this scene before. I ran back to the car, pulled out "Yield" and the view I had witnessed was almost exactly like the front cover.

good one...I think I saw the yeild cover in montana close to jeffs hometown.....looked exactly likke it anyway......

The strangest one was when I was served divorce papers and I initialed "T.V." instead of my initials "T.L". Consequently, those papers were torn in half.

Back in April, I went to the Astoria show, and whilst there, I bought an avocado t-shirt, was given an avocado postcard as I left, and whislt I walked around London, was pretty much swamped with avocado t-shirted people!
But, after the show, me and my boyfriend took a wander down the road to get a burger from a random kebab/pizza/burger place and there was a glass chiller which served as the counter top, and all along the bottom of the chiller were avocados.
    BUT
These avocados weren't just sat there whole, oh no! They were all sliced exactly in half :D:D:D:D
    I even took a picture!

Wonder why all the avocados? Cool story and cooler yet that you got a picture :D:D:D

We had an avocado tree in our back yard where I grew up in Florida. They would fall on the ground and my parents would toss them in the garbage. I was always one of those ultra sensituve types and felt bad for the avocados. A shame they never appreciated them. We could have made guac and put avocado on our burgers but I was unaware of that as a kid to suggest it. A much underappreciated fruit. Anyways, when I bought the CD and saw the avocado my memory shot back to that tree and many other things in that back yard. :D

After a really scary time in hospital and months of rehab I returned to work flat and really needing a lift. All the girlies in the office were asking,"How are you?" And I was quipping back that the only thing that would cheer me up now is a new PJ album or a tour. Wander down the street for latte in my morning tea break, miserable and wishing I was anywhere than work, pick up a copy of Beat and what do I read? NEW PJ ALBUM AND TOUR ANNOUNCED!:D

And I'd be willing to say that it was just a coincidence except that was 2002.

It happened again last year too!

Spent the first few months of 2006 sick and miserable too.
Back out of hospital, rehab, flat as a tack and needing to find my happy thoughts again. Quipped again to a friend, "Things have been pretty shit but I'm not worried coz PJ will save me." And sure enough, next day the new album and tour were announced again!!!! :D:D

So folks here's a prediction for you. Next time I get sick, I'll post and let you know so that we all know that a new album and tour are imminent!!! :D
I'm betting late 2008 early 2009. Guess we'll see. Can't wait for the tour and the new album. I could do without the sick but I'll take one for the team!! :D

There are many other little PJ coincidences that have happened in my life but those are the biggies.
    NOPE!!!

In 2003, I think that was the year, I woke up really early without an alarm clock, sometime before 6am, and I remembered that Pearl Jam was on NPR that day. That wasn't the coincidence. It was already a bit into the NPR show, and when I turned the radio on they had just announced that Pearl Jam would be on next. That was the strange part. Like someone made sure I was up to hear Pearl Jam because I forgot to set my alarm clock.

Ed referenced he worked at a petroleum plant, and he used the word "gently" I remember that.

Is there a way you could fake sickness, just a little bit, so we get the tour, but you don't suffer? I hope you feel better. That sounds awful, not the tour, the illnesses.
