Either way, this guy serving a life sentence for stealing hedge clippers is outrageous. Habitual offender or not. That's what I hate about bureaucrats. "Rules are rules" are to them.

"Rules are rules" are to them.“Under the Constitution, only federal criminal convictions, such as those adjudicated in the United States District Courts, may be pardoned by the President … However, the President cannot pardon a state criminal offense. “Since Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey are both state prisoners, the President cannot pardon them. A pardon in this case would need to be issued at the state level by the appropriate authorities.” Post edited by mcgruff10 onI'll ride the wave where it takes me......0

I want reform but when you have open season on a whole group of people then it's lost is luster for me.
There was a cop telling a protester that "they won" and the protester couldn't have been more of a jerk. It's things like this that sour me daily.
The BLM website has some great info on it now. I would love that message to transcend to the people in the streets.0

Sure if he did exactly what the cops said he would have had a much better opportunity to not be shot, but like someone said above, that isn't the point. We cannot continue to condone this escalation behavior from the police. They are not prison guards, not everyone should be assumed guilty. They are not judges/jury, they shouldn't be carrying out a sentence. And they are the ones more often than not creating the situation in the first place.hippiemom = goodness0

I didn't say it was. But you must have some sort of interest in what someone says if you're following them.HughFreakingDillon said:

This is what I’ve been struggling with the last couple days. Personally I don’t see asking Blake to follow directions from the lawful authorities and the gross overreaction by the police as either/or.wndowpayne said:HughFreakingDillon said:

There’s been posts (Chuck D’s hit me) that say that attributing any blame to Blake makes one “part of the problem”, implying racism.
I truly want to be an ally in the struggle, but pushing me away for trying to be objective seems counterproductive.
I’ve seen posts asking why protesters are judged by the most violent but not the police. I try to judge the rioters separately from the peaceful protesters, and apply the same thought process to the authorities. Is the point now to let a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch?"The world is full of idiots and I am but one of them."

Expect BLM-Toronto protests in the coming days. A tragic outcome obviously, but the family’s initial claims that she was pushed off the balcony were dangerous and in the end not substantiated. I’m sure a civil suit is in the offing.

of course. what's one of the biggest criticisms that right wingers have of this place? it being an echo chamber. if you aren't interested in what others you disagree with are saying, you are doing it wrong.Ledbetterman10 said:

of course, this could also absolutely mean the band follows him because they agree with him. i was just responding to your "of course (pearl jam) follow him". the implication being that they support him because they follow him on twitter. which i doubt any of the band members are even involved in.Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer0
