Your PJ Buying Batting Average

Most of us have bought -- or attempted to buy -- some pretty hard-to-get PJ stuff in the last few months/years.

I'm curious to know how we have fared in terms of the really hard-to-get things...by that, I mean PJ items that have sold out within seconds.

So, I invite you all to post your PJ buying batting average. That is, the stuff you've actually been successful buying DIVIDED by the total amount you have attempted to buy (you may repeat if items have been sold more than once, or in multiple places).

Again, only HARD TO FIND stuff here -- vinyls, posters, tickets, etc. that have sold out in seconds (or, maybe, minutes).

Here's mine:

Successful buying:
Boston Whale poster (10c)
Washington DC poster (10c)
Philly 03 Poster (10c)
EV Kenyon Hall Poster (10c)
EV LA1 Tickets (ticketmaster)
EV LA2 Tickets (10c)
PJ Santa Barbara 03 Tickets (10C)
Into the Wild vinyl (10c)
Into the Wild vinyl (Aural Exploits)

Not Successful:
Toronto dragons poster (10c)
LA2 2006 poster (10c) (this one still hurts!)
LA2 2006 poster (BK sale) (again!)
Hawaii poster (BK sale)
EV Kenyon Hall poster (BK sale)
EV LA1 tickets (10c)
10c Mystery Poster sale (the last one...2004??)
Los Angeles Fonda Theatre "secret" show 2006 ( :( )

So, altogether: 17 attempted, 9 successful, batting average = .529. Successful barely more than half the time.

I'll probably remember some other stuff that I bought or attempted to buy when others start posting, so this is subject to change...

I dont think I could remember them all but, the most important was VIC tickets, and I got those.

    I'm 16 for 16 (100%) getting concert tickets.

I'm 0 for 0 (0%) getting posters and other miscellaneous crap.

  • Sure I do i dont understand the people who collect things.
I also dont get the people who write down the set lists as they go. In general I dont get you people. I bring a casual fans attitude to seeing them over 50 times with 20 plus front rows.
I am very happy with the new seating policy. I hope frat boys with their hats on backwards who love Jeremy get all the seats in rows 1 and 2.

I have gotten tickets to every show I ever wanted to attended so I guess I am batting 100%

I agree with every word said here. every last word. I don't get the collecting either. I collect songs. I buy the albums. I get the DVDs. when there's new boots or when rare mp3s surface, I download them and burn it to disc. that's about all the collecting I do. that's not to say that I wouldn't buy a poster or t-shirt if I saw a cool one.

collecting vinyls isn't that bad. well, actually it depends. If you prefer the sound of the vinyl (or simply like to listen to the vinyls occasionally, as I do with my Zep), that's cool. but to buy them just to have them? just to better your collection? gimme a break. these people are like children collecting baseball cards. and posters? the poster craze is what I hate about the pearl jam fanbase the most. those people are fucking crazy. I can't believe they can get excited over posters. and again, it's like the vinyl thing, there's obviously nothing weird about putting a few PJ posters around the house......but when you're wasting hundreds of dollars on them and treasuring them like some artifact that Indiana Jones would search for, you need serious psychiatrist help.

I have struck out 19 times trying to get somewhere in the front ten rows. maybe i will get lucky at WPB, Tampa, or South Carolina.
    hold on to the thread
    the currents will shift
  • I am not against the collectors they pay the bills. Like the people who buy lawn seats pay the bills. They are important.
I just dont get. I have been front row many times. After the shows I want to sit and relax because I am dead beat tired. Here come the tards running up asking to have a piece of trash or a water bottle. And they get it and it means something to them?
Ill never get it I have 3 picks all where given expressly to me. i am not diving for or fighting over a pick on the ground. In general the fans annoy me. Drink 10 beers and enjoy the show.
Respect the guy on the lawn who only owns ten and vs. He paid to sit on the lawn. In the parking lot before the show I want to be with that guy and not most of the "die hard" scary type of fans anyway.

My only miss is the poster from the Maui 98. It was only my second show and I thought I could get one after the show. Now they are too expensive for my rational self.

I've been pretty good about getting tickets to the tour shows, but the special ones like Vic, and Seattle shows in December, I've been shut out. Posters that I've been at I've been good, but the ones from Klausen and ames bros I've been shutout too.

Over all, I would say I'm over .500
