I’m in the camp that the print is overpriced but I’m also in the camp that the artist should be able to pick their own price.  If it sells it sells and if it doesn’t maybe it was too high.  I’m also aware that part of the price is to limit flipping.  Much easier to flip a $35 print for a few hundred than it is to flip a $250 print for an equal mark up.
Considering some are selling for more an eBay they could have charged more. Pull a Hamilton and increase to match market price.

Thankfully PJ is about accessibility and doesn’t do this.
How about stop with this “limited edition “ crap and make a supply as long as there is demand????? Everyone can get one. No flipping.  Everyone’s happy.  Problem solved.

I don't think stuff done by the artists can operate in that model successfully.  How much would the Mona Lisa be worth if da Vinci had painted copy after copy on demand?  Obviously an exaggeration but the principle still applies.

Spot on. The very reason collectors are willing to shell out $250 is because it's limited. Add to that, the vast majority of fan sentiment that I've seen is that they would only pay like $50, which would slash any profit to the point that it wouldn't justify the cost of making them.

Then there’s no buzz or anticipation, which does help spark sales and impulse purchases. Artist’s choice.

You only solved the problem for people who want one, and can afford one.  If they saw this as a problem in the first place.  Probably just gonna have to make them free.  Then we are closer to solving another perceived 1st world problem.

I guess the album cover's photographer is getting some share of the proceeds from the Ames work.
