Took a week-long break from Gigaton

Put it down for a bit (loved it initially) and listened again after a week break. Guess what? It still blows me away. I'm at the stage now where so-called lesser songs like Take The Long Way are now becoming my favorite on the album. It pains me to think that this album isn't getting as much juice as it would if there was no pandemic. In a regular timeline, the press tour for this album would have been epic.

I did the same - and had the same experience! It really is a stunning album.
The solo and outro of Take The Long Way is my favourite part of the whole album.

Played all albums post Yield three times this week. The constant quality of Gigaton tracks amazes me.

I don't know about this thread... I can't even fathom taking a week long break at this point!  Love the album in its entirety.

The same here! It's been 33 days since it's official release and I've played this album at least a few times each day. Now obviously that's a little aided by the fact that we're stuck working from home, so I have more liberty to blast my music while doing work than I normally do. But I do feel it's still a testament to how amazing this album is.

I took a week break too and put it back on today.  It's a great album, hopefully, we'll all be safe and healthy enough to see them play in 2021.

This album, like all good albums, gets better the more I listen. Very impressed and am glad that the band waited to put out a great album rather than phone in a mediocre one

Agreed. The closest that’s come is BoB phoning in what he thinks PJ should sound like on Backspacer or Lightning Bolt

Has been over a week for me. DOTC remains to be the most exciting and compelling track. Like the album and looking forward to tour!

But he redeemed himself when he remixed the self titled record!

I also took a break of sorts. Other music came along in the past couple of weeks - new album by Soul Asylum, the Tweedy Family show every night, etc.  I listened again to Gigaton yesterday and I'm even starting to like the tracks I didn't like! I might turn on the album in the middle, at a particular song I'm in the mood for, but I usually end up playing it all the way through, no skipping.

I put it down and haven't went back, will make myself, as I think its good and don't want the same thing to happen to it as happened to BS and LB.

At the end of the day, those are 2 pretty good albums to be considered their worst. Lotta gems between them, just lack some cohesiveness and some of the final tracks on each are lackluster

Today in New York it’s 74 degrees, have my ear buds in listening to Gigaton while I’m doing yard work.... fantastic album to be outside enjoying the weather

I agree. I spin Backspacer at least monthly. LB, I listen to a handful of tracks once in a while. And yes, their “worst”, is still better than a lot of bands best
