Jeremy

That song is one of my favorites. The story behind that song means a lot to me because I can relate to that kid "Jeremy." One gets bashed and bashed and bashed and they lose it. Some carry it emotionally for the rest of their lives while others like "Jeremy" snap and lose it and innocent people are wasted because of a few bad apples who have such a high degree of self love that they actually "get off" picking on others who are different. It's not race it's being DIFFERENT. I am so sick and tired of that RACE word... it is such a cop out for many people who just can't hack it...... This type of discrimination is one of the earliest known to mankind. I think the way Eddie and co. put together the song "Jeremy" within one night or so as I have been told .. is such a remarkable piece of work... I don't have any history on the backlash that it caused with regard to the video. I never saw it. However, the truth is the truth.... I could go on and speak about other like incidents but I don't dare... For a good reason... One in particular... Oh, well. PJ fans, keep rocking. You are cool and you support one of the best bands our country has ever known. Don't forget it!

Love ya,

OLD LADY!!

I too can relate to this song. Growing up I endured some very traumatic experiences ranging from group violence to being socially outcast. To the extent that in my mind everyone was against me, the police, school system (teachers, etc..) and mostly my peers. During one particular incident I was confronted by approximately 50 peers calling themselves a "gang" intent on physically and psychologically destroying me at a local fireworks display. While I sought help from nearby locals, I was met with quiet indifference, fortunately someone anonymously called the police and the encounter came to an end. However the overall problem did not end until I removed myself from the community. During this time I felt as though my parents didn't care, they were focused on my own wrong doings and had little support for my social situation.

Race had nothing to do with this. The majority of the community was caucasian and no racist descrimination was acted upon the few minorities that did live there.
I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. Your nature is to do harm, mine is to love truth, and to make it public in spite of you. - Voltaire
