Does anyone remember why Santa Barbara '03 was never released?

And call me a pessimist, but considering we haven't had any '96 shows yet, I'm not getting my hopes up anymore.

    Seattle October 2003.

The bank they'd make off that show.

And yeah, it won't be MSG 98. In addition to what was on the first page, didn't Brett say it would cost major amounts of cash for them to release it?

I do believe there is a semi steep fee payable to MSG but lots of bands release shows from there so it can’t be outrageous.

I was under the impression that the fee referred to what they would have to pay that night to record the show... so they never properly recorded it and it’s not available for release.

Guessing too long unless they add a 4th disc. Most vaults are around 2 hr long shows

I totally get that but it was an amazing show and it’s still unreleased. I’d be happy with a condensed set and I would also be happy to pay a bit more for a 4lp release.

I got the impression they didn't tape MSG '98 because of the rules at the venue.   I thought the podcast said there were 2 shows not recorded on that tour.  I can't remember the other one.

In regards to Benaroya.  I'd be disappointed.   We get 1 vault per year.   While Benaroya is rare on vinyl, it's pretty easy to find on CD.   With both format's it's widely available in professional high quality.   Seems a waste to use a vault as a reissue instead of releasing something unreleased from the vault.   I realize that Soldier Field was sort of like that, except all we had was mediocre boots.   It never had an official release.   My preference for something new would be:

    1) Santa Barbara 2003.  This show seems amazing, acoustic set, TOTD reunion, amazing setlist.
1b) One or both of the PJ20 shows
    2) A No Code Tour show - Maybe Randall's Island '96?
    3) Something from the 2004 VFC tour (none of that stuff is released)
    4) One of the 2002 Key Arena shows (maybe show #1) - Those never got released
    5) PJ at the Commodore in 2000 - The day after the bellingham vault.   Only one of 2 shows not released from that tour.  The 2nd one will never be released.
    6) Another show from the no code tour
    7) Missoula '98 - My first PJ headlining show, and Matt's first big show with the band.  This is a completely biased pick by me.
    8) Something from '94.   We've got Atlanta on the dissident singles, but it's incomplete.   There's complete bootlegs form the radio.  The show is amazing.  Maybe release another blistering show from the same tour (I always though the dissident 3 disc set would make an easy RSD release).

That's my thoughts.  So many unreleased things I want to see before they use a vault on a reissue :(

I don't get why they don't do these quarterly like DMB or Metallica. They have plenty of concerts to do so.

I could also dream of monthly like Bruce does, but they might run out of shows rather quickly.

Agree with a lot of this. There are the 2 showbox, 2 key shows from 02 that would be fine. I'm ok taking a 98 break for another couple. Anything 94 would be fantastic. 96 US or Europe and VFC 04 are ideal. I don't know if santa Barbara 03 is something they would do as a vault but I'd be very happy with it.

Yah I'd like more '98 but there's other things I'd like to see first.   If they did a '98 again, it would be kind of cool to choose one of the Jack Iron's shows.  Maybe one of the Hawaii shows?

Agreed. I’ve long wanted a TMR Vault like club where we get 3-4 a year for $60. (I’d pay $75 for a DL too)

Fair enough Zod. Let's split the difference and go with early 98 show. I'm down!

Worst case scenario it will be merely a "good" release, so no matter what we get I'm buying. Just hoping for some diversity
