I hope the fans of the Lost Dogs compilation won’t be too upset with me as there will be no “Song Survival” rounds for this release. Keep in mind that we will acknowledge most of the songs on Lost Dogs but, as an alternative, I’m grouping the songs chronologically. Within each grouping, I’ll also include essential non-album tracks found on soundtracks, EP’s, reissues, and Christmas singles.

The songs will be separated into three groups as follows:

Group 1: Ten Era (1991-1992) Non-Album Tracks

Group 2: Vs-Yield Eras (1993-1998) Non-Album Tracks

Group 3: Binaural Era and Beyond (1999-present) Non-Album Tracks

Admittedly, some arguments can be made about which era a particular song belongs. For example, both “Alone” and “Hold On” have a connection to both Group 1 and Group 2 but I put them in the former as multiple sources list them as Ten outtakes. Admittedly, placing these two songs in Group 1 also helps “balance” out the three groups.

Keep in mind, there are A LOT of non-album tracks associated with Pearl Jam so I did my best to streamline things.

For a song to be eligible for one of the three groups listed above, it has to meet the following requirements:

1. It must be a PJ original – no covers. Therefore, songs like “Last Kiss” and “Crazy Mary” will not be included.

2. It must be a “Pearl Jam” song according to pearljam.com – no collaborations or solo work. Therefore, songs like “Hunger Strike,” “Real Thing,” and “Setting Forth” will not be included.

3. It must be included in the in the Songs list at pearljam.com. Therefore, demos like “Cold Concession” and “Let it Ride” will not be included since they aren’t listed.

4. It must be an “official release” according to the Songs list at pearljam.com. Therefore, songs like “F**k Me in The Brain” and “Sick o’ Pussies” will not be included. I might make an exception to this, mind you, in Group 3.

Hopefully I won’t make any major errors or omissions over the next three rounds.  Admittedly, I did quite a bit of “fact checking” before I organized these three groups but there is still a chance I didn’t get it quite right. It happens.

Ok well a song like Hard To Imagine goes all the way back to 91-92 but, didn't get released to 98' so is this not getting a listing cause this is a seminal song that has to be available to vote on.

Yeah. Difficult to draw lines. Both HTI and Angel were considered for this category. They are both in the next one.
