AFTER THE WIND CRIES MARY
After all,
It was the jets that went into the boxes,
And the crowds, they had all gone home,
And you could no longer hear happiness,
Only the staggering numbness of being alone.
The room,
Is spinning into a prism.
It's but a reflection of yesterday's life
Somehow, it all seems so pointless
And somehow, it all seems alright.
The lights
They turn off and on tomorrow
They only shine when day turns to night.
And your tired eyelids, they begin to swallow
All that's left of yesterday's light.
Will our people remember
Everything that was, and never was the last?
Or will we curse and be crazy and render
Our time into something that's past?
Yes, the wind cries.
Dare we?
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.

Thanks, Vogon. I'm not generally prone to plagiarism, but this just kind of popped into my head last night and I figured I'd better get it down and hope its OK.
