What a huge loss.  One of our greatest songwriters.   This one is hard.

“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.

So sad. I knew when he was hospitalized the other day, given his life's history, he was unlikely to come out of this. Will definitely be playing and singing Angel from Montgomery in his honour today.

I was reading his BIO and don't know about him.

RIP because he was apparently beloved.

OMG, please listen to some of his stuff. Unbelievable songwriter.

A must have in all collections. I have an original 1971 pressing and the linked above Kevin Gray cut reissued in 2017.

Makes sense of why I wouldn't know him as 70's music has never "grabbed" me.  I get things introduced to me every now and again.

    I'll give him a look.

This one sucks.  I prepared myself once his wife was diagnosed but I still thought John could beat it like he beat down cancer multiple times.  One of the all timers.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

Colbert's Introduction to this is so prophetic. Filmed in 2016, but never aired.

Is there going to be a stay at home farm aid?  That would be great.  Must look into that!

    RIP good sir.
Prine was the heart and soul of America, even if people didn't realize it...maybe even more so because most didn't recognize it.

    Little pitchers have big ears,
Don't stop to count the years,
Sweet songs never last too long on broken radios.

When I saw the All The Best Fest after the fact that it happened I was kicking myself. Well, now that he's gone this seems like even more of a reason to go - just booked a swim-up room for two. Going to be well worth it in 2021.
  • thank you for the sunday morning tears john
