Never heard it at all...But it's on my list of songs to get acquainted with...

I've been a fan for years, but hearing "new" old songs helps when waiting for a new album. OK my logic sucks...

I've had the "singles" soundtrack for 14 years...I'll shut up now...

I heard this in 04' on the vote for change tour in Asheville, NC. They came out and did an acoustic set in the middle of the show, and this was the first song in that set. Some dude threw his entire fucking beer all over Eddie, as they started playing - and Eddie jumped up and was looking for who did it. Man, I thought he was gonna just dive into the crowd and start pounding on some guy. He was so pissed you could tell, especially cause he was sick that night.

But, he looked at the other members in the band, sat back down and rocked out this song - which my favorite of all time! I was soooooooo fucking happy my night didn't get ruined by some drunk fuck on the front row.
  • This happens to be my favorite song to open a show to. great every time.

first pj song i heard live, opening at uniondale, 2003. first time i heard the song was when ed, mike and neil young played it for a tribute to hereos after 09/11, it so touched me then and i fell in love with it then and there. also made me take a second look at pj, b/c before then i was not a hardcore fan, at all.
    Stay with me...

in another thread i stated that this song is the best song ever by Pearl Jam. you should hear the version of it on the Dead man Walking soundtrack. it is the best that i have ever heard.
  • One of my all time faves. It has a special place in my heart. Can't make the no tears promise as sometimes I cry, sometimes I don't...but I'm always moved.

The Dead Man Walking soundtrack version is AMAZING...but 2 others come very close. The Tribute to Hero's version, and the last Bridgeschool...also with Uncle Neil. Ed changing the words to "you're not here" had me bawling. Vedhead27 can vouch for that as she was bawling with me.

  • In my top 5 pj songs....amazing song..so simple yet it captivates me all the way through

That song is so in my top five favorite!
It might have to be the song they play at my funeral.

This song is *sigh*......so many things. :o Like ACC (and yes I vauge for that cry fest girl!) this song also holds such a very special place in my heart. It's so intense..stirs up so much.... one of the "hurts but heals" PJ beauties. :( :o Even though many lines tap into the deepest and most painful parts of my heart & soul...there is also just so much hope in this song...so much. At the beginning I always find myself tearing up and by the end I'm always smiling...especially when he hits "There's no need to say goodbye." and especially when he hits~~> "The sun will rise another day." :) *heart flutters* That just does it!!! Makes me realize that it may not be "ok"...but that we will meet again and for now just keep on living and shining that 'human light' for the BOTH of you. :) So beautiful and so beyond touching.

Mr. Vedder....here you go again creating super bright gold. You ARE a star! This is by far one of your most heartfelt/warming songs to date imo. Another song that prove your absolute genius...another song to prove that you write music that saves!!!! When you belt out...

    "awwww heeeey aaaah...heeeey-eeeeeey heeeey-aaaawwww"

    :o

    *chills from head to toe*

Well that right there is one of my fav things EVER. Immeasurable amount of feeling & emotion captured there...one of your many "says so much without saying anything at all" moments. Oh the power!

I can't believe these breathtaking/extraordinarily gorgeous words have yet to be posted!!!
Allow me to do the honors....
    ;):o

    ~*LONG ROAD*~

And I wished for so long. Cannot stay.
All the precious moments. Cannot stay.
It's not like wings have fallen. Cannot stay.
But still something's missing. I cannot say, yeah.

Holding hands are daughters and sons.
And their faiths are falling down, down, down, down.
I have wished for so long. How I wish for you today.

Will I walk the long road? (the long road) Cannot stay. (the long road)
There's no need to say goodbye. (to say goodbye)

    All the friends and family.
All the memories going round, round, round, round.
I have wished for so long. How I wish for you today.

And the wind keeps roaring. And the sky keeps turning grey.
And the sun is set. The sun will rise another day.

    I...

I have wished for so long. How I wish for you today.
I have wished for so long. How I wish for you today.

Will I walk the long road? We all walk the long road.
Will I walk the long road? We all walk the long road.
Will I walk the long road?
Will I walk the long road? We all walk the long road.
Will I walk the long road? We all walk the long road.
Will I walk the long road?

<~~~listening to PERTH '03...one of my fav versions.:)
Although they ALL glow with the same scorching emotion, beauty & uplifting hope.
